EDWARD STRASSER Obituary

STRASSER
EDWARD J., on Dec. 1, 2009, age 102, of Collingwood. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Blake) Strasser. Loving father of Rear Admiral Joseph C. Strasser USN (Ret) (Barbara Wagner) and Margaret M. Ricci (Louis), and the late Commander Edward J. "Jack" Strasser, Jr. USN (Ret) (Anne Campo), and the late Peter T. Strasser (Claire Strasser Bradley). Brother of the late Margaret J. Szarkowski. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Ed was a 1925 graduate of Camden Catholic High School. One of the founding officers and the Collingswood Little League, Babe Ruth League and Garden State League. He was a founding director of the South Jersey Savings and Loan in Colls. Longtime parishioner of St. John Parish where he volunteered as an altar server well into his 80s and was a member of the Men's Club. He was a self employed Manufacturer's Rep of houseware products, and was honored by the Philadelphia Housewares Club as Man of the Year 1973.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Saturday 9:30-11 A.M. from the BLAKE-DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 226 Collings Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Mass 11:30 A.M. at the Church of St. John, Collingswood. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. The family requests memorial contributions to Collingswood Manor, 460 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
