Gene helped me become a better basketball player with his coaching at the CYO level....He also coached my Lincoln High B-ball team in 1973 when there was a teacher´s strike....An all around good guy....

Oh, I was so shocked and saddened when I got a call about Gene's passing. What an honor and pleasure it was to have known your father. He was a wonderful person and my friend. He had done so much for me that helped me down the road in life, all starting by being let on the St. Dominic's CYO b-ball team as the youngest player ever at the time---6th grade (very un-deserving then...more like the mascot than a player..."little Iggy"), but it opened some doors, even within myself (confidence),and got me started on a good path toward life. He was always in my fondest thoughts and will always be in my memories now. I only regret I didn't keep in touch the way I wanted to. I didn't even know he was suffering with cancer and that made me very sad. I will pray that God and the Blessed Mother gives you all the healing your hearts will surely need..and especially you, Dolores.
