Thinking of the great times at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. You definitely had a unique perspective on it all. Just found out via the Alumni Association letter.
What a premature loss!

We met Dr. Neufeld at a very scary time in our lives when our son was recovering from near fatal multi-system traumatic injuries. He was a calming, reassuring presence and gave us answers to all our questions and worries during a lengthy recovery. Our son is doing well now but it was a shock to hear of Dr. Neufeld's passing. It is like taking the training wheels off a bike and believing we can make it without Dr. Neufeld's help. We love the mis-matched socks! When life has you down, you may hang your head low, but then smile when you discover mis-matched socks.

Dear Wendy and family:
My heart is broken over the passing of Jay. As I read all of the condolences, there are many words used to describe him, the most common of which are caring, compassionate and simply a really good human being. Jay and I grew closer with each other's families though our mutual work ar Children's Hospital Oakland. He was an extremely devoted doctor,, but what I loved best was his honesty, integrity and high standards he held himself to. I deeply admired that in him and became a better person because of him. He will be deeply missed. He had a wonderfully positive influence on many people and there is no doubt his legacy and beautiful spirit will remain with those left behind to comfort all who loved him, and provide us with a smile as we think of the wonderful and funny memories he left behind.

God Bless you Dr. J, Wendy and your wonderful family and loved ones. Your passing was way to soon. In addition to all of the other contributions you have made, thank you very much for the Dr. Molnar Fund with the Foundation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This fund will continue to serve children and adults with physical needs throughout their lifespan and would not have been created without your vision and energy. You are dearly missed and your legacy will go on in our hearts for ever. With hope and prayers, Kevin P. Murphy MD.

Wendy and Family,
I first met Jay through his paintings on the wall at the Milky Way Restaurant in Boise. I soon after had the great pleasure of working with Jay at St. Luke's Children's Hospital. He was a great physician and human being who cared deeply for his patients and those around him. He brought vibrant color to our lives in every respect, similar to his beautiful paintings. I will miss him.

Wendy, Janet, Rachel, Naomi and your families, you have my deepest sympathy. I met Jay when he was a new attending at NYUMC. I have so many fond memories of him. He possessed so very many good qualities - humility, kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit among them. Our world is a sadder place without him. He was a remarkable human being. Forever I will hold his memory in my heart.

From his oversized glasses to his mismatched socks, Dr. Neufeld brought color and energy to the floors of St. Luke's Children's Hospital where we both worked. I was often touched by the compassion and tenderness with which he briefed patients and families during care conferences. Too tall and colorful to fade into the background, he often took time to engage those on the floor that did: the unsung staff that do the daily work of keeping beds made, bedpans clean, medications filled, and discharge plans written. Our family enjoyed his presence at shul too. He attended my son and husband's Bar Mitzvah and eagerly tried, with no luck, to set up a co-worker with a nice Jewish man. He embodied Tikkun Olam by seeking to repair the bodies and spirits of the most vulnerable among us. Our hearts ache for his family and your memory will be a blessing.
