79, who worked for decades as a copy editor and sportswriter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, died May 26, 2018 in Lancaster County.
Baughman, a voracious reader, loved animals, especially her beloved cats, traveled the world and rooted for Philadelphia's sports teams, particularly the Flyers. Following her retire-ment, she volunteered at the Philadelphia Zoo and became a docent at the Philadelphia Waterworks along the Schuylkill River. She also was active in the local Democratic Party.
Born in Bedford, Ohio, she graduated from Ohio University and then went on to earn a master's degree from the University of Minnesota. She worked for the Rochester (Minnesota) Post-Bulletin newspaper before moving to Philadelphia in the 1960s and taking a job at the Inquirer, where she worked until her retirement.
Baughman, the daughter of the late John and Grace McFarlane Baughman, was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Ferguson, and her brother, John. She is survived by a cousin, Roger York, Michigan, and stepson, Jon Ferguson, his wife, Ruth Ferguson, both of Lancaster County, and their two daughters.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
