Natalie had such a beautiful voice. I wish I had recordings of her, especially singing Swallows of Capistrano. That wonderful voice will truly be missed.

Growing up in Philadelphia,I always watched Lawrence Welk on Saturday night with my parents. I still do. It was nice to see a hometown girl. I had a friend who went to Little Flower with her and told me how sweet she was. She had a voice like an angel. So sorry to hear of her passing.

Natalie was one of those special singers with the voice and artistry to make her a Lawrence Welk Show star. I still appreciate the delightful reply she sent to my adolescent fan letter.

My wife and I loved to hear Natalie sing. I am glad we still have shows available to see her perform. It would have been nice for her to be able to tour the country and pickup new fans after each performance. God had other plans in her life.

I saw the notice in the Philadephia Inquirer with no mention of the Lawrence Welk Show, but her name and photo seemed familiar. (I had forgotten she was a Philadelphian, too.) I grew up watching the LW Show with my mother. She even did a version of the show at Church. I sang the part of Janet Lennon and my mother was LW. I also drove my pedal car for the Dodge commercial. My sympathies to her family.

"From the time she was a child, Natalie Nevins was born to entertain....always singing her little Irish heart out to the joy of everyone in her hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

And then it was onwards to Hollywood where she became a household name thanks to The Lawrence Welk Show.

Natalie was born on May 15th....and while growing up in the city of Brotherly Love, from the time she was five, she would be down on the corner candy store entertaining the crowds with her singing, making sure there were at least two people, or even five to ten folks were there to watch. She would continue to rehearse, work hard and improve on her vocals in the years to come hoping her Big Break would come.

She received her formal music training from the sisters of the Immaculate Heart and St. Joseph schools in Philly where she also learned to play the flute and the piano, and later attended the University of Pennsylvania before heading out to Southern California to pursue showbusiness. Her Big Break came when announcer Johnny Jacobs, who followed Natalie's work since her arrival, invited her to entertain at the Marymount School's Father and Daughter annual benefit fund dinner, having her sing before a huge gathering of famous Hollywoodites in the audience. That opened the doors for more oppurtunities, such as performing at the Riverside Hotel in Reno, Nevada for a summer engagement and later all over the country in one major television appearance after another.

Natalie was soon hired by Lawrence Welk to appear on his show for the 1965-1966 television season, their first transmitting in color, and would spend four wunnerful years displaying her singing talents as a soloist, or in duets with Jimmy Roberts and Joe Feeney. She also demonstrated her talents with the flute as well. While on the show, she recorded an album, Natalie Nevins Sings I Believe & Other Inspirational Songs released by Ranwood Records.

She also continued her musical training when she received operatic coaching from both Madame Estelle Liebling in New York and later with Arthur Rosenstein at MGM studios in Hollywood.

After her departure from the show, Natalie worked briefly as an assistant on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson before returning home to Philadelphia, top be near her brother John, who is a priest at a local monastery. Sadly, she passed away on August 23, 2010."

Many of us only knew Natalie through TV but we always felt like she was right there in the livingroom with us. Her personality just shone through and we didn't want her number to end. So much talent and such a vibrant individual.
We will continue to enjoy her on TV - thank God for those memories!
Condolences to her family and friends.

Loved watching Natalie on the Lawrence Welk Show. Always so beautiful, with a bright smile and bubbly personality. When I think of her, I can hear her singing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", hitting those high notes so beautifully and effortlessly. A sad loss for us, but a perfect addition to the heavenly angels. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and close friends.

To Natalie's family, I send my condolences. I am so sorry for your loss.

Talent like hers is a rare thing these days and what a beautiful singing voice Natalie had.

Although it is sadly silenced on Earth, it surely must now be heard on a grand Heavenly scale now, right along with all the other Lawrence Welk band members voices and other musical talents!

I hope there was a flute awaiting her upon her arrival!

You will be missed here, but surely the Welk Family members must be rejoicing in your presence again with them there.

Rest in Peace, Natalie.

Very sorry to hear the news. She sent me a St. Patrick'sday card once (after I had sent her a birthday card) and I treasure it. She was a lovely lady and I'm sure her soul is loving every minute in Paradise. You can almost hear the singing going up there and I'm sure she's asking the entire angel choir to make sure they are using perfect posture. It's sad we couldn't have seen her one last time at one of the Welk reunion shows even if she could have only been in the audience; it still would have been great. She has fans all over the country who remember her fondly. My prayers to the family.
Respectfully,
govie

Use to watch Natalie Nevins on the Lawrence Welk Show. Loved her singing and especially when she was in one of her favorite gowns singing on one show. Natalie remarked how she loved that gown. Natalie is now at peace with Our Lord and singing in heaven with the angels.

I remember Natalie from the Lawrence Welk Show. She was a beautiful singer. I didn't know she was from the Philadelphia area.

May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in eternal peace, Amen.
