MARLENE LAZZARO PRIMIANO, March 6, 2014. Beloved wife of Edward S. Panek, Esq., loving mother of Marilyn O. Primiano-Waterman (Elijah), dear grand-mother of Marlaina L. Waterman. She is also survived by Michael P. Primiano, Esq. and cousins Dr. Edmund DelGuercio, Mary Licciardello and Anthony Brancato. She was predeceased by her father Dr. Orlando A. Lazzaro and her mother Mary D. Lazzaro (nee Reino). Marlene was an educator in the Philadelphia School District from 1968 until her retirement in 2004. She began her career teaching English at Jones Junior High. She later became the youngest administrator in the history of the Phila. School Dist., serving as V.P. at the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Thereafter, she served as Principal at various schools, including A.S. Jenks, E.M. Stanton and most recently Andrew Jackson. She was closely involved with numerous community and cultural activities including the Phila. Orchestra, the Kimmel Center, the Mann Music Center, the Phila. Museum of Art and the Phila. Academy of the Fine Arts. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Viewing Monday eve. 7 to 9 P.M. at BALDI FUNERAL HOME, 1331 S. Broad St. (ample parking on premises) and Tuesday 9 to 10 A.M. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, 1723 Race St. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 A.M. Int. Holy Cross Cem. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made in her name to In Defense of Animals, 3010 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, CA 94901. Memo line "In Memory of Marlene Panek for IDA INDIA."
