LAWRENCE CHARLES, 94, of West Chester, formerly Clifton Heights, died April 23, 2014. He was a graduate of Temple University with a degree in Physical Chemistry. Before WWII he was a member of the Marine Reserves and served in the Navy during the war. Mr. Ritter was head of the Plastics Fibers and Adhesive, High Polymer division at the Naval Air development Center, Warminster, PA and a senior research engineer for Boeing Vertol. He was responsible for the development of polymer synthesis, thermoplastic fiber-reinforced organic fabrication and graphite fiber/epoxy NOMEX sandwich production. Mr. Ritter was a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Ritter is survived by his wife of 72 years, Angelina (Jean), his daughters, Carolyn Hann, Linda Antonowich, three grandsons, six great-grandchildren and one sister. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the DELLAVECCHIA, REILLY, SMITH & BOYD FUNERAL HOME INC., 410 N. Church St., West Chester PA (parking on premises). 610-696-1181. Visitation begins at 10:30 A.M.
