I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. In the more than 30 years that I knew Steve, most importantly as a dear personal friend but also as a professional colleague, I always admired his humanity, his kindness, his deep and abiding religious faith, and his limitless devotion to his wife Louie, his beautiful children and his precious grandchildren. Steve was a true role model for all of the husbands, fathers, grandfathers, lawyers and friends of the world to aspire to. I will miss his friendship, his sense of humor, and his wise counsel. But I know that my friend left the world a far better place than he found it, and his memory will be blessed forever. I regret that I was out of town many thousands of miles away when I learned of Steve's passing and was unable to attend his services, but I will convey my condolences to Steve's family in person this week.

Steve was a great lawyer and a dear friend. Like many in the profession, I depended on Steve's sound judgment and wise counsel. We had a nice chat this past Friday afternoon, just three days before his untimely death. After making sure his clients were taken care of, Steve was looking forward to spending some restful time at the shore with his beloved family. He sounded strong, thankful, and hopeful. I so admire Steve and the life he led. He was a role model to me professionally, and in dealing with my own cancer. I will miss him very much.
