Neale died peacefully at home in Philadelphia on Nov. 16, 2017, in the arms of his husband, with his two sons at his side. Born in 1934, Neale was the son of the late Allen Burtis Secor and Edith Winifred Eible. He was married to his partner of thirty years, Ricardo Liriano, and pre-deceased by his former wife, Christine Secor. Neale was the proud father of Wendy, who died as a child, Jonathan and Thomas. Neale was particularly fond of his grandchildren, Christina, Alegra, Luca and Emilia. Neale is survived by his older brother, Philip Secor.
Having started as a trial attorney, for the majority of his career Neale served as an Episcopal Priest. In the 60's and 70's Neale was integrally involved in the Civil-Rights, Anti-War, Women's Priests, Gay Rights and Welfare Rights movements, while serving as parish priest to St. Mary's Church in Harlem, NYC. From 1984 until retirement in 1997 Neale ministered to internation-al sea-farers, first as port-chaplain for Port Newark, NJ then as Director of the Seamen's Church Institute of Philadelphia. A few years ago Neale wrote "I have been fortunate enough to have lived a full and interesting life, though not with error or trauma, and not always lived conventionally or on the "safe side". But they have never been dull, nor in some magic way devoid of God at their Center. I have been a lucky fellow".
