ARTHUR MICHAEL, 61, of New Britain, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, after a battle with cancer.
Born in New Haven and raised in Cheshire CT, Mr. Seefahrt lived most of his life in New Britain, where he died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
After graduating from Lafayette College with a BA in History, he went to Temple Univ. to pursue an MBA and his CPA certification. A hard worker with exceptional people skills, Mr. Seefahrt obtained several high-level positions.
It was in 2000 that Mr. Seefahrt joined LSA as the General Manager, and he was later promoted to COO. He consistently implemented successful strategies that delivered tangible and sustainable results. His supportive management style helped set the tone and culture of the organization, a culture that has retained so many talented people over the years. "Art was an inspiration and a mentor to everyone at LSA," said Laura K.T. Schriver, CEO.
Mr. Seefahrt's passion was spending quality time with his family. Among his favorite hobbies were hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking, and attending St. Joseph's Prep rugby matches. He was also an active adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America and was one of the Founders of the Josias A. Sterling Memorial Fund.
Survived by his wife, Melinda Williamson Seefahrt; his sons, Arthur Jr. (A.J.) and Kurt; his sister, Maureen Sommer of AZ; and extended family in Doylestown, CA, CT, TX and Australia.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. on Saturday, Jan. 19th, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, where the public may call from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow the Mass at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Seefahrt's name to the Josias A. Sterling Memorial Fund at c/o CHARITYSMITH Nonprofit Foundation, 13100 Filly Lane, Truckee CA 96161.
