JOHN A., of Philadelphia, age 81, died peacefully June 1, 2013, his loving wife of 56 years, Helen K. Melnick (nee Krispin) and his family were by his side. Beloved father of John (Debbie), AnneMarie (Patrick) Monachino, Margaret (Mark) Reinhart, Jeanne (Kenneth) Warren, Paul (Marni) and grandfather of Christopher, Jennifer, Stephen, Megan, Maria, Daniel, Kathryn, Kayla and Kenny. Survived by sisters Anna, Mary, Helen and brother Steve. Preceded in death by brothers Frank, Joe and Mickey. Born in Dowdentown, PA to Frank and Mary. He retired from Container Corpor-ation of America, Manayunk, PA after 40 years and was a Korean War veteran, a member of P.R.C.U.A. Group 3 and a charter member of the Rox-borough Coin Club. John was a well loved man of many talents. A noted gardener who took pride in propagating azaleas and rhododendron; his yard was a showcase of flowering trees and perennials. A resourceful handyman/carpenter, he left his imprint in many homes, including his children's. He was a man of great faith and a devoted member of the former St. Josaphat's Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 9 to 10:45 A.M. at St. Josaphat's church, 124 Cotton Street, Phila., PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinson Disease Founda-tion or the Pennsylvania Hor-ticultural Society.
