Thank you Aunt Mae for being such a great aunt to my mom, Jane Wenke Blender and my uncles Dennis and Raymond Wenke. My mom has always said that you're her favorite aunt and I only had to spend a little bit of time with you to find out why. You were spirited, energetic, and fun-loving. But most of all you were kind. You had this full of life personality even in your 90's. I always saw you as lively. You always brightened a room when you walked in. You would never have known you were 94 because you still looked great with a good sense of humor. You were always so fashionable with your trendy clothes and flashy sunglasses. Sometimes I thought your clothes looked better than mine. You were my great aunt and I didn't get to see you as often as I would've liked but without fail you remembered to send my sister Allison and myself a birthday card every year. I always looked forward to seeing you. I'm sorry I cannot be there tomorrow to honor your memory. It was such a pleasure having known you. You will always have a special place in my heart. I will never forget you Aunt Mae. I'm sad that you're gone but it makes me feel better thinking you're up in heaven reuniting with Uncle Ed. You were loved by all of us and will always be missed.

Lots of love,
One of your many great-nieces Laura Blender xoxoxo

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER AUNT MAE AS A SWEET, NICE HAPPY BEAUTIFUL LADY.
I REMEMBER HER VISITS TO MY HOUSE DURING THE YEARS AND ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS TIME. I WOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER TO TAKE A PICTURE OR TWO OF HER WITH OUR FAMILY IN FRONT TO OF OUR CHRISTMAS TREE.
I HAVE A REALLY FUNNY MEMORY OF RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT IN HER CONVERTIBLE WITH MY BROTHER RAYMOND AND MY SISTER JANE.
I WILL REALL MISS YOU AUNT MAE AND THE HAPPY TIMES YOU BROUGHT TO ME.

Thank you , Mae, for being such a wonderful friend to my mother, Rosemary McCarthy.

You met Mom while you were both working for the Federal Gov't in the Washington, DC area. Mom passed about 2 years ago but as I recall you worked for the same agency but not in the same office. You were best of friends at work and outside of work.

I have fond memories of visiting you & Ed with Mom at your home in Annandale. What a warm, beautiful home.

When my Dad passed in 1973 you were a rock for Mom. You grieved with her and helped her through that sad time. Thank you for that.

After Dad passed Mom was very lonely. A member of your family (I don't recall who) had a female black lab who had recently had puppies. Somehow you finagled one of those puppies for Mom. I recall driving with Mom (maybe to NJ) to pick up the puppy. "Maggie" was the perfect addition to Mom's life! Thank you, Mae.

After you and Eddie moved to NJ Mom would come visit you. (Sometimes I would come with you.) That is when I was introduced to Mae, "The Shopper!" You knew every discount store and every employee and which day they stores would take add'l markdowns! I am still amazed at your due diligence as a discount shopper!! I finally understood why you always looked like you just stepped out of a fashion magazine...but always thought you might have owned stock in hair spray!! You were always groomed to perfection!

Mom would take the casino bus from Northern Va to Atlantic City and you and Ed would meet her at the casino. Mae, " The Casino Queen" knew which casino had the best buffet and because she was such a casino frequent flyer always had vouchers for the buffets. She also knew which slot machines to play in every casino. She had it down to a science!

My Mother was very blessed to have you in her life. She considered you a very dear friend and understood why you would not come back to Northern VA to visit her...she had moved into a high rise condo with the dreaded elevator!

Mae, you were always such a bubbly, energetic, positive person! Never had a negative thing to say to or about anyone! Always laughing!

Thank you for your love and friendship. I believe you are with your "Eddie" and all your family as well as my Mom...in a much better place.

Love and God Bless,

Gail Burnett

Mae was a dear friend of my mother's, Evelyn D'Amico. They were part of a group of ladies known as the "Sorority". Even after my mother's passing she kept in touch with me and my family. We will all miss her.

We found each other by the Hand of God and I know that she is at rest sharing the treasures of the love of her beloved husband, her niece Alice and her family who welcomed her to Heaven,s Doors. Mae was ice tmy grandmother Emma Wenke Kealey and although she never knew her, we realized that Emma held Mae in her arms as a tiny baby. Knowing that Emma touched her was the closest moment anyone one of Emma,s grandchildren (16 of us) experienced. All through the miracle that was Mae Sullender. You will be missed. Love, Carol Kealey Husted SArian and the entire Kealey Family
