Apple Jr., Sam* - Pottstown  
MSGT SAM APPLE JR., USMC (RET) MSgt Sam Apple, Jr. USMC (Ret), 94, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014, in Pottstown, PA. Born in Arkansas, on September 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Sam Price Apple, Sr. and the late Julia Howard Apple. Sam retired from the United States Marine Corp after 30 years of service, where he earned the rank of Master Sargeant. He proudly served his country during WWII, Vietnam, and the Korean Conflict. Sam also retired from First Citizens Bank in North Carolina after more than 25 years of service. He was an avid reader and loved his crossword puzzles. Sam was a founding member of Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church, USA, where he had served as a deacon and elder. He is survived by a daughter, Valerie Hinson (Kenneth Hart), of Pottstown, PA; a sister, Dorothy Barnes, of Hitchcock, TX; two grandchildren, Raegan L. Griscom (Frank), of Wilmington, DE and Matthew S. Hinson, of Pineville, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Paul and Grace Degnars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Joan Apple; two brothers, Gordon and Howard; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth. The graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday, December 18 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dwight Greene officiating. Austin, Thomas H.* - Schwenksville  
THOMAS H. AUSTIN, 72, OF SCHWENKSVILLE Thomas H. Austin, 72, of Schwenksville, PA, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Phoenixville Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Tom was born August 21, 1942 in Montgomery County, a son to the late Edward and Violet Austin. Tom resided most of his life in Schwenksville. He was employed as a property manager for several management companies and lastly at Pennrose Management Company for Pheasant Run in Harleysville, prior to his retirement in 2004. Tom was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1958-1962. He enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with his grandchildren, going to the movies and watching boxing matches live or televised. Tom is the beloved father of two daughters and three grandchildren, Tracy Kesselman, her children Alex and Olivia of Norristown, PA, and Dawn Austin and her daughter Katrina of Schwenksville, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St., Spring City, PA 19475. Burial was private.
