Charles L. Heydt

CHARLES L. HEYDT, 89, OF GILBERTSVILLE Charles L. Heydt, 89, of Gilbertsville, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in his residence. He was the husband of Effie M. Heydt, whom he married February 16, 1946. Born in Clayton, PA, he was a son of the late William Heydt and the late Aquilla (Hoffman) Heydt. Charles attended Oley Valley High School and worked for the former Boyertown Auto Body Works as an electrician for 40 years. He was a life member of Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Co. of Boyertown and also Gilbertsville Fire Company in Gilbertsville. He was a member of St. John-Hill United Church of Christ. Mr. Heydt was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife of 68 years, Charles is survived by a daughter, Linda A. Schoenly, wife of Barry, of Boyertown; a son, Charles W. Heydt of Pottstown; two granddaughters, Diana Seyler and Tracy Vitacco; a grandson, Kevin Schoenly; a great-grandson, Thomas Stock; a great-granddaughter, Katie Stock; and a brother, Norman Heydt. Charles was predeceased by four sisters, Alma Schollenberger, Anna Loose, Esther Gehris, Eleanor Shaner, and a brother, Linwood Heydt. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Morrell Funeral Home, 124 West Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, PA. 19512. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Steeple Fund of St. John-Hill U.C.C., 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown, PA 19512 in Charles' name.
