Heaton, Laura Josephine Pickens - Easley  
EASLEY — Mrs. Laura Josephine Pickens Heaton, 89, wife of the late Joe Benson Heaton Jr., passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson. Born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Julius Andrew and Elizabeth MacNabb Pickens, Mrs. Heaton was a graduate of Easley High School, Draughn's Business College,Southern Airways School of Aviation, and attended the University of South Carolina where she studied Personnel Management. She was Supervisor of Procurement Section at Donaldson Air Force Base, Greenville, S.C., Secretary and Bookkeeper for Blakely Plumbing Supply Company, and retired from the Pickens County YMCA in 1987 as Secretary and Bookkeeper. Mrs. Heaton was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church where she was past president of the Joy Sunday School Class, and past Secretary/Treasurer of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for a number of years. Surviving are two sons, Joe Andrew Heaton and his wife Margo of Clovis, Calif., and Julius Pickens Heaton of Easley; a daughter, Jo Heaton Smith of Easley; three grandchildren, Hayden Smith, Dr. Laura Heaton and Julia Heaton; and two great-grandchildren, Jade and Rain Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Heaton was predeceased by a brother, Edwin J. Pickens. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley. The family received friends immediately following the service at the graveside. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 100 Clay Street, Easley, SC 29642. Henderson, Stacey - Easley  
EASLEY — Stacey Henderson, 52, fiancée of John Karl Hall, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at McCall Hospice House. Born in Pickens County, a daughter of Peggy Knight Gilstrap and the late Robert Earl Beasley, Stacey was a former ISS teacher at Wren Middle School where she coached cheerleading, and was the former manager of the Hide-Out Sports-Bar and Grill. She was a member of Redemption World Outreach. Surviving, in addition to her fiancé and mother, are a son, Mitchell Brandon Henderson (Neely White) of Easley; two daughters, Brandy Chantel Bowen of Easley, and Sylvia Amanda Nicole Plyler (Zachary) of Pickens; two brothers, Robert B. Beasley (Renea Burkey) of Six Mile, and Andrew Beasley (Brooke Lewis) of Greenville; a sister, Loren Denise Roberson (John) of Easley and four grandchildren, Trey, Kaitlyn, Lyric, and Landon. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Piedmont. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Redemption World Outreach, P.O. Hester Jr., Theron E. "Herb" - Columbia  
COLUMBIA — Theron E. Hester Jr. (Herb), 84 of Columbia, S.C., passed away peacefully on August 27, 2015 at Agape Senior Hospice in Columbia. Born in Pickens, S.C., he was the son of the late Mary Viola Hendricks and Theron Earle Hester of Pickens, S.C. He attended Clemson College and graduated from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was retired from the SC State Employment Security Commission where he had worked for 30 years. He began his career as a junior interviewer and eventually advanced to being the District 5 representative and member of the Award of Merit selection team and served two years on the International Legislative Committee and a year each on the International Credentials Committee and Membership Committee. Twice he was president of the SC chapter 1970-71 and 1979-80. He was also a member of Wade Hampton Camp 273, Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was preceded in death by his wives, Nancy E. Snipes Hester and Ann Shepard Hester; sons, Terry Hester of Columbia, S.C., and Bill Hester of Lake Murray, S.C. He is survived by his grandson, Drake Hester of Newberry, S.C.; his nephews, David E. Peek II (Ras) of Midlothian, Va., Freddy E. Bazemore Jr. of Beaufort, S.C.; his niece, Ann Finke of Cramerton, N.C.; and his beloved dog "Dixie." The family wishes to thank his many friends who shared a friendship with him over the years and have given their support to him and the family during this difficult time. There will be a graveside service for family and friends at Sunrise Cemetery, 603 East Cedar Rock Street, Pickens, SC, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Dillard Funeral Home of Pickens, SC, (864)878-6371.

Rogers, Timothy - Pickens  
PICKENS — Mr. Timothy Rogers, 54, of 625 W Main St., Pickens, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Pickens, he was the son of William Rogers and the late Charlena Gowens Rogers. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his daughters, Monica Rogers of Anderson and Jada Rogers of Pendleton; sons, Shaquille Rogers of Anderson, Raymond Rogers of Greenville, and Dezmond (Marshallia) Rogers of Greenville; sister, Minister Jackie (Harry) Hunter of Seneca; brothers, Michael (Patricia) of Easley and Glenn Rogers of Pickens; ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service: Wednesday, September 2, 2015, 2 p.m. at Robinson Chapel United Methodist Church in Liberty, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Pickens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church. Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
