James Dickard Sr.


PICKENS — James Farrell Dickard, Sr., 85, husband of 60 years to Frances Baker Dickard, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

A son of the late Paul Van Buren and Angie Ramell Pace Dickard, he was born in Pickens County. Mr. Dickard was a US Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Intrepid, he retired from Singer – Ryobi in Pickens.

Mr. Dickard was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church, a member of Keowee Masonic Lodge #79 where he was a Past Master, and a Hejaz Shriner. He was also a former Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 51.

Survivors include his wife Frances, his children, Kathy Ravan (Joe), Carol Dickard, Linda Few (Larry), Jimmy Dickard (Georgia), Bryan Dickard (Ginger), his siblings, Lavonne Alexander (Carli) and Lloyd Dickard (Grace), twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will receive friends 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 in the Fellowship Building of Pickens First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, Cottingham House, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, South Carolina 29672.
