Franklin Kelley

SIX MILE — Franklin Ernest Kelley, 85, of Six Mile and husband of the late Modena Mann Kelley, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Cleo Kelley and Mattie Merck. Mr. Kelley was owner of Kelley Builders of Six Mile and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the former assistant chief of Six Mile Fire Department and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Mr. Kelley was a member of Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his three sons, Greg Kelley (Debbie) of Six Mile, Terry Kelley (Lisa) of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., and Roger Kelley (Teressa) of Liberty; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Woodrow Kelley (Sharon) and Linda Rogers (Bob), both of Six Mile.

The family received friends on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

The Senior Men's Class of Ridgeland Drive and Six Mile Fire Department served as Honorary Escorts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Maintenance Fund of Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church, PO Box 208, Six Mile, SC 29682.

The family will be at his home.
