Rev. George Colston
Newport News - Rev. George G. Colston, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
Rev. Colston was a native of Columbia, NC, and peninsula resident since 2005. He was a US Navy Veteran World War II.
He was a retired pastor from Bethel Assembly of God Church and was a former pastor at Shacklesford Assembly of God, also served as pastor of Blackstone Assembly of God, Smithfield Assembly of God and Jakes Run Assembly of God in Fairview, WVA. and Springfield Assembly of God. He also served as pastor of Poquoson Assembly of God known as Victory Christian Center. He also worked at the Norfolk Naval Air Station and retired after 21 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Blanche and is survived by a daughter, Ellen C. Beemer and her husband Vincent; 2 sons, James E. Colston and his wife Vicki and Douglas L. Colston and his wife Deborah; a brother, Seaton Colston; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m. in Amory Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at 2 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC.
Thefamily would like to thank the staff on the Monticello and Piedmont Households for their care of our father while he was at The Gardens at Warwick Forest.

Doug and family, I was so sorry to hear about your Dad passing away. He was a very nice man, and I always enjoyed hearing him preach in Poquoson. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I will miss Uncle George, even though I have not seen him since my dad's funeral service, we exchanged Christmas cards every year. Love you Uncle George. My prayers to Ellen, Jim, Doug & the rest of the family & all his friends. RIP

I have many fond memories of my Uncle George. Seems like me and Doug could always get into trouble-but Uncle George always understood how to handle whatever we did-my thoughts-and prayers to the family-
