Baggett Jr., Foy Webster - Franklin  
Foy Webster Baggett, Jr. Franklin - Foy Webster Baggett, Jr., 61, passed away May 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Suffolk, he was a graduate of Forest Glen High School and retired as a superintendent for VDOT after 39 years of service. Foy was a longtime member of the Blackwater Hunt Club and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Suffolk. He was predeceased by his father, Foy Webster Baggett, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Jannet Hand Baggett; his mother, Erma Winslow Baggett; a daughter, Kelly D. Baggett; four sons, Daniel W. Baggett, Norman V. Hand (Heather), Ryan Baggett (Courtney) and F. Webster Baggett, III; sister, Judy B. McClung; two brothers, Arthur Baggett (Peggy) and Teddy Baggett (Myrtle) and three grandchildren, Christopher, Isaiah and Raylynne Baggett. The funeral will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Suffolk. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Butler, Clara Boyette - Carrsville  
Clara Boyette Butler Carrsville - Clara Boyette Butler, 103, widow of Herman Butler and Jake Butler, passed away May 1, 2016. Mrs. Butler was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County and was a daughter of the late Charles and Estelle Boyette. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mattie Lee Boyette and two brothers, John and Albert Boyette and three step children, Dorothy Tyree and Carlton and Roger Butler. Mrs. Butler was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Charles D. Butler, Sr. of Carrsville and one step daughter, Louise Knowles, four grandchildren, Charles "Hot Shot" Butler, Jr., Linda Butler, Patricia Holland (W.H.) and Albert Butler, four great- grandchildren, Brandon Butler, Angel Anderson, Ricky Rautenkranz and Krystal Holland, five great- great grandchildren, Adam, Madison, and Luke Butler, Brianna and Gracie Anderson and a large extended family. A funeral will be conducted at 11AM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with the Rev. Hoyle Green officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. Mohinder K. Channa Chesapeake - Mohinder Kaur Channa, 98, passed away April 30, 2016, in her home. Born in Bhutta, India, she was the daughter of the late, Moti Ram and Bachan Kaur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mohinder Singh Channa. Left to cherish her memory: daughters, Paramjit and Ramanject Kaur; sons, Rajinder S. Channa and wife Luxmi Devi, Surinder S. Channa and wife Manjit K, and Haripal S. Channa and wife Manjit K.; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Norma J. Cubilla Virginia Beach - Norma Jacqueline Cubilla, 80, passed on to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, April 30th. She was retired from Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. For many years she enjoyed to cross stitch and crochet. To most people she was known as Jackie or Pee-Wee. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Lynn, and sister, Peggy Reynolds. She is survived by her sons, John Ray, James Allen, Paulino Jerome (Leigh Annie); her daughter, Julia Christine; her brother, Norman L. Corbett; grandchildren, Christopher, Jason, Ashley, Cody, Jessica, Nick, Tyler, Crystal and Nick. She was loved by many and will be missed. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel with burial to follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

DeLong, Walter S. - Suffolk  
Walter Stanley DeLong, 67, died April 2, 2016. A native of Northampton, PA, he was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and also attended Uzzell UMC. Walter was a long time employee of Norfolk Naval Shipyard and served his country in the Army National Guard. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Jane DeLong; sons, Matthew DeLong and wife Carrie of Suffolk and David DeLong and wife Meredith of Midlothian; three grandchildren, Lillia, Levi and Avery; sister, Marilyn Gilly of Northampton, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 4 PM in Ebenezer UMC, Suffolk, by the Revs. Grant Siegfried and Carl LeMon. A reception at the church will follow. Flynn, John J. - Va Beach  
John J. Flynn VA Beach - John (Jack) J. Flynn passed away on May 20 in a Virginia Beach medical facility after a short illness. Jack was 89 years old. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna L. Flynn, two daughters Kimberly Troxel Van Deusen and Jennifer M. Van Deusen, and two grand children John T. Van Deusen, III and Andrea M. Van Deusen. He was predeceased by his son John T. Van Deusen, II. Jack is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from his large extended family. Jack Flynn is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts in the Berkshires , but has made Virginia Beach his home for more than 20 years. Jack is a renowned watercolorist whose work is collected by individuals and museums nationwide. A graduate of Boston's Butera School of Fine Art, he also studied with Don Stone of Rockport, Massachusetts and with William J. Schultz of Lenox. He is an elected member of the American Watercolor Society. In addition to Jack's numerous recognitions and awards as a professional artist, his career also included more than 15 years teaching in galleries, college, and privately throughout New England. Jack was devoted to his beloved art, and even more devoted to his wife Donna, and his family and many friends. Jack was a good man and will be missed greatly by all those who loved him dearly. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, he can be remembered by your support of your local Hospice organization.

Eloise Grantum Chesapeake - Eloise B. Grantum, 88, of Chesapeake passed away on May 1, 2016. She was born in Ridgeland, SC and was the widow of James Grantum. Eloise was a Deaconess of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a choir member and a member of the Alfreda Knight Golden Age Ministry. Eloise leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Olivia Randolph (Earl) and Wanda Griffin; and three sons, Rudolph Grantum (Reann), Marvin Grantum and Larry Grantum (Andra); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Elton Harley, Jr., and a grandson, James Henry Alexander, III. Viewing will be held from 4 7pm on Wednesday, May 4 at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1248 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3310 Deep Creek Blvd., Portsmouth. The family has entrusted J. Norma Riddick Hamilton Chesapeake - Norma Riddick Hamilton, 84, passed away May 1, 2016. Norma was born in Creswell, NC to the late Talmadge and Ira Phelps Riddick, and was the loving wife of the late Edward C. Hamilton. She was also predeceased by a sister, Molly Jean Peal; and brothers, Thomas R. Riddick and Wayne Riddick. Norma was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Joy Club; she was also an active member for 60 years with the Order of the Eastern Star Friendship Chapter 57 and a member of the Red Hat Society. Norma loved life and loved ice cream; she was also a loving wife, mother and sister. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Debbie Copeland; granddaughter, Ashley Copeland; siblings, Edward D. Riddick (Gay), Rita Pinner (Jimmy) and Sandra Spruill (Charles); nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends; she loved her grand dogs, Pepper and Reba, and her great grand dog, Spencer. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 6:30 pm to 8 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tracy Gregory officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Azalea Memorial Gardens, Columbia, NC. Hansen, Gordon Allen - Norfolk  
Gordon Allen Hansen Norfolk - Gordon Allen Hansen died of cancer on March 25, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. He was 72 years old. He leaves behind his devoted husband of ten years, Joseph M. Beagan of Norfolk, Virginia with whom he resided and numerous friends, cousins, nephews and nieces. Gordon was born on June 1, 1943 in Wellington, Illinois to Charles Hansen and Mayme Bell Crawford, who predeceased him. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1962. Gordon also served honorably in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War in Cu Chi Province from 1966 through 1968. Gordon had been retired from St. Marys Carbon in St. Marys, Pennsylvania. Gordon was an avid hiker. He traveled extensively in the United States, Portugal and especially in Spain where he recently completed the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Gordon was a sweet, kind, gentle and creative soul who loved people, horses and dogs. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His ashes will be interred at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, Illinois.
