Radford, John Douglas - New Church  
John Douglas Radford New Church - Mr. John Douglas "Johnny" Radford, 72, husband of Toni Riccitelli Radford, and a resident of New Church, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Born June 24, 1942 in Harrisburg, PA, he was a son of the late Cecil B. Radford and Dorothy Hamilton Radford. Johnny served his country in the United States Marine Corps and later retired as a mechanic. After retirement, he owned and operated a NASCAR shop. He was a 4-H Leader for many years, and was a dedicated member of Pittsville United Methodist Church. Johnny never met a stranger and was loved and adored by all, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Julie Radford and Venancio Hernandez of Bloxom, VA, and Robin Bowden and husband Derek of Sparks, MD; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Alvarado, John C. Miller, Jr., Joshua Miller, Joel Miller, Christopher Bowden, Claire Bowden, and Lauren Bowden; three great-grandchildren, Jesus, Jiovani, and Jasmine Alvarado; a sister, Carol Grusemeyer of Naples, FL; three brothers, Paul Radford of Portsmouth, VA, Jeff Radford of Nags Head, NC, Pat Radford of Elon, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at the Pittsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverends Maury Enright and Danny Shrieves officiating. There will be a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pittsville United Methodist Church, c/o Juanita Sacks, 1003 Clarke Avenue, Pocomoke, MD 21851. Rossi, Anthony Francis - Virginia Beach  
Anthony Francis Rossi Virginia Beach - Anthony Francis "Tony" Rossi, 84, died in his home on December 15, 2014 with his family by his side. Tony was born in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada to the late Demetrio and Mary Rossi. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, David Rossi, all of Ontario, Canada. Tony attended Notre Dame High School in Welland, Canada where he served as the Commanding Officer of the Cadets Corps. He received a full opera scholarship to the Julliard School of Music. Tony met his future bride, Barbara Winfield, while they were both in the Broadway touring production of "South Pacific" in Toronto. Tony was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach where he served on the Liturgy Committee and was the choir director for 27 years. He was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara W. Rossi; five children, Loretta Rossi Wack (Steve), Daniel Rossi (Sharon), Michael Rossi (Kristen), Richard Rossi, and Regina Rossi Valentine (Robert); and six grandchildren, Nicole, Joseph, Anthony, Michaela, Kristina and Christopher. The visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a rosary service to begin at 6:30pm. The mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00am with Father Mario Fulgenzi, OSB officiating. A reception will be held at the church after the mass followed by a 3:00pm graveside service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Dean S. McGaughey, III and his staff at VA. Oncology, and Bayside Transfusion Center nurses for the excellent care given to Tony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202, or The American Red Cross. Ray, Johnny - Chesapeake  
Johnny Ray Chesapeake - Johnny Ray, 61, of Chesapeake, VA passed away on 12/11/14 in Virginia Beach, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; H. Ray and Gladys J. Torbert, brother; Bruce Torbert, two brother-in-laws; Randy J. Walker and Thomas P. O' Neill. He is survived by two sisters, one brother and one brother-in-law; Trudy and Charlie Bennett, Christina M.T. O'Neill, Jeff T. Torbert, also 3 nieces and 4 great-nieces. He was known as Ravi Ray Torbert for 2 decades as a yoga instructor, massage therapist and rebirthing coach. He leaves behind several friends and other relatives. He chose to donate his body to Science Care for research to help others. He will be greatly missed.

Reid, Jeffrey D. - Virginia Beach  
Jeffrey D. Reid Virginia Beach - Jeffrey D. Reid, 57, passed away on December 7, 2014. He was born in San Mateo, CA to William Reid and the late Johnye Boyle Reid Butler. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Kathleen; sons, Sean and Connor of Virginia Beach; sister, Jennifer Geiger (Michael); and nephews, Michael (Michelle), Reid (Amy), and Weston (Jessica) Spiegl,; and uncle Harry (April) Boyle of CA. Jeff grew up in Hillsborough, CA, where he graduated from Junipero Serra High School. He was Vice President of Globe Wally Leasing and former Chairman of the Northern Division of the California Trucking Association. He was a top selling real estate agent for Fox and Carskadon and a former member of their President's Club. He settled in Corrales, NM in 1993 where he devoted himself to caring for his family and their acre of land. He founded his own fencing and landscaping company to share his passion for beautiful southwest landscaping. He always exceled at golf, and had competed in semi-pro tournaments. He also toured the Irish golf courses with friends and family while he lived in Maynooth, Ireland. Jeff loved his family and he was a gourmet cook, preparing and serving wonderful, spicy meals for his family and friends. He was kind and generous to all his friends and people he met. He particularly enjoyed hiking at Kennedy Meadows in the Sierra Mountains and the La Luz trail in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, scuba diving, skiing with his family, playing tennis with Sean and Kathleen, debating with Connor, as well as swimming and surfing in Virginia Beach. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 712 Little Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Rickert Sr., Robert - Norfolk  
Robert Rickert, Sr. Norfolk - Robert K. "Rick" Rickert, Sr. 85, peacefully passed away to eternal rest on December 12, 2014. A native of Chicago he was the son of the late Otto and Olga Rickert, and was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny . Mr. Rickert was a proud US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was retired from Sears, Roebuck, & Co., serving in the company for over 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 327, Moose Lodge, VFW & the NRA. He was also an avid outdoors lover and enjoyed camping & hiking. He especially loved hiking along the Appalachian Trail. Mr. Rickert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, June Norman Rickert; their children Robert K., Jr. (Zinta), Kathy Rickert Jennings (Gary), Gary N. Rickert (Christine), and Sandy Rickert Mieczkowski (Brian); and 12 grandchildren, Virginia (Jamie), Elizabeth, Keri (Clay), Ali, Meghan, Wesley, Trevor, Ashley, Natalie, Viktorija, Erika, and Krista. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm at McKendree UMC on Friday December 19, 2014 with a reception following in the church social hall. Memorial donations may be made to McKendree UMC 6870 N. Thelma E. Robinson Norfolk - Thelma E. Robinson, 78, passed Tuesday, December 9, 2014. She was born May 17, 1936 to the late Daisy Mae Pinkney. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Renee Majors; sister, Louisa Patterson; grandchildren, Erica Majors and Nicole Majors.
