Seburn Jr., George E. - Chesapeake  
George E. Seburn, Jr. Chesapeake - George Edward Seburn, Jr., 88, was born on April 10, 1928 and died on Monday, May 4, 2015 in a local hospital. A native of Newport News, VA, he graduated from Warwick County High School; and was a proud U.S. Marine. George retired as a planner and estimator from NARF in 1985; and was a long time member of Highland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Seburn, Sr.; his loving wife of 64 years, Billie Joyce Seburn; and a son, Richard D. Seburn. He is survived by a daughter, Cherilyn Tracey Seburn; a son, Donald E. Seburn; a sister, Dora "Sissy" Smith; a brother, Francis "Snag" Seburn; two grandchildren, Katrina Danielle Grubb and Stephanie Lynn Seburn; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, May 11, 2015 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Kevin Wilson. Barbara Ann Sherrell Virginia Beach - 49, was granted her angel wings on May 2, 2015. She was predeceased by her father, Melvin Sherrell. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her mother Donna Sherrell; brothers, Johnnie Jr, Vincent, Michael Ransom and a host of nieces and other relatives and friends. Sciortino, Elizabeth A. - Virginia Beach  
Elizabeth A. Sciortino Virginia Beach - Elizabeth "Betty" A. Sciortino, 89, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph W. Sciortino. Their children, Joseph P. Sciortino and wife Mary, Edward James Sciortino, Katherine S. Walker and husband Bobby were blessed to have such caring and devoted parents. Betty's greatest love are her grandchildren, Chas Faison and wife Cindy, Chris Faison and wife Amy, Peyton Ellenor and Jack, Eddie Sciortino and Sheri, Tony Sciortino, and Mary Francis Gregory. From these wonderful grandchildren Betty had 13 great grandchildren. We would like to thank Doug and Belinda Fondren for their love and sincere assistance in caring for our Mother over the last 3 years. Most will remember Betty was a warm and loving person, a light in their life. She always had a smile to share with others and enjoyed planning a meal for anyone showing up at her door. Betty has taken a piece of our heart with her, she will be loved and missed by all. She will be cremated and joining her beloved husband at the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, please enjoy a special meal or a glass of wine with your loved ones in her memory.

Small USN (ret.), Captain Joseph Thomas - Norfolk  
Capt. Joseph Thomas Small, SC, USN (ret) Virginia Beach - Captain Joseph Thomas Small, SC, USN (ret.) passed away on 14 April 2015 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by his family, at the age of ninety-two. Captain Small was born in New York City in 1923, the son of Emma and Robert Small. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1941; attended Manhattan College; and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on June 6, 1945. He was married in Annapolis on that date to Eileen Mary Gray. Captain Small's first duty station was gunnery officer on the Battleship U.S.S. Missouri (BB-63). After World War II, he graduated from the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School in Bayonne, New Jersey, and was stationed, during the Korean War, as supply officer of the Destroyer U.S.S. Rodman (DD-456/DMS-21). He also served on the Destroyer Tender U.S.S. Hamul (AD-20) and in the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project (AFSWP). During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he served as supply officer of the Repair Ship U.S.S. Amphion (AR-13). During the Vietnam era, he served as supply officer of Naval Air Station, Norfolk, and Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, Virginia. He also served on various Navy and joint service staffs and bureaus in London, UK, and Washington, DC. His last duty station was supply officer of Roosevelt Roads Naval Station, Puerto Rico. He retired from the Navy in September, 1975. After retirement from the Navy, Captain Small joined United Services Life Insurance Company. In 1981, he was appointed Regional Manager for the Norfolk, Virginia Beach Region. He served on the company's Field Advisory Committee during the period 1980-1984. After retirement from the company, he and his wife spent many years travelling the world. He had a passion for fine wine and enjoyed collecting wine and donating from his collection to charitable wine auctions held in Napa Valley, California, and Naples, Florida. Captain Small was a member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, Virginia Beach, Virginia; the New York Athletic Club; the Sunset Crest Beach Club, Barbados; and Lago Mar, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Captain Small is survived by his wife of seventy years, Eileen Mary Small; his five children, Joseph Small, Jr., John Small, Christine Carman, Maureen Hooker, and James Small; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Margaret Mary Dwyer. A service will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium on 6 May 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the United States Naval Academy Foundation. Melissa Sciortino Ashburn, Virginia - Melissa Graham Sciortino, 40, and son Vincenzo, of Ashburn, Virginia died Wednesday, April 23, 2015 at the Lansdowne Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia. Melissa ("Missy") was born April 29, 1974 in Denver, Colorado, to James and Connie (Biddle) Phillips. She is survived by her loving husband Anthony, their daughter Keeley, puppy Lola, brothers Troy and Kenny, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and friends. Family and friends were Missy's passion. She was a loving wife and mother and a deeply caring and compassionate person who always put others first. She always had a twinkle of mischief in her eye, a laugh that was truly contagious, and the kindest and sweetest heart. Missy loved deeply and truly and we are blessed to have been able to love her in return. Sharp, Joseph N. - Norfolk  
Joseph N. Sharp Norfolk - Joseph N. Sharp passed away April 25, 2015. He was a native of Harrellsville, NC and the son of the late Lillie and Elijay Sharp. Survivors include children Nelson Sharp, Cheryl Sharp, Linda (Lanelle ) Williams, Joycelyn Sharp and Maria Montgomery as well as grandchildren Shawn McGee, Sean Murray, Clifford Clark, Rachel Montgomery, Erica Sharp, Lamar Clark, Rachel Montgomery, Delaine Montgomery. He is mourned by many nephews, nieces, in-laws, neighbors, church members, and friends. Services will be 10am, Saturday May 2 at First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA. Visitation will be held 1-8pm Friday, May 1st at Graves Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
