Rose Marie Wheeler Virginia Beach - Rose Marie Wheeler, 72, passed away July 21, 2015. She was born in Vermont to the late Charlie and Nettie Cole. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Rose will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory is her 4 sons, Richard, Raymond and Roger Fournier and Mickey Wheeler; daughter, Karen Wheeler; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Clat, Charlie, Jessie and Flip; 4 sisters, Charlotte, Barbara, Minah and Shirley; many nieces and nephews; and her long-time companion, Kenneth Wheeler. Services will be held for Rose at 11 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 a Newark Union Church in Newark, Vermont. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at the VFW Post 10038 in Lyndonville, VT. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel is assisting the family. Wommack, Joseph D. - Virginia Beach  
Joseph D. Wommack Virginia Beach - The world lost a great man on July 18th, Dan Wommack AKA "Dan Dan the BBQ man!" Dan left behind Evie , and four sons Michael, Joseph, Wade and Wayne Wommack; four grand children; and 2 great grand children. Dan was a very successful business owner of Lowcountry Landscapes and The BBQ Grill at Hilltop West Shopping Center. Dan was always a giving man that was there to help anyone that was trying. He always enjoyed offshore fishing and hanging with his friend Will James. Dan lived life in a big and interesting way to the fullest. He would say if you want it go and get it. Dad you taught us much! Rest in Peace we all hope you make it to "Margaritaville", your version of heaven on earth. Altmeyer Funeral Home has been entrusted with care. Wood, Buddy - Suffolk  
Buddy Wood Suffolk - Willis E. "Buddy" Wood, Jr., 75, a resident of Suffolk, VA, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Born November 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Mary K. Wood. Buddy graduated from Onancock High School in 1958, and then entered the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, graduating in 1962. He was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding as a Cost Engineer, and retired in 2004 after forty-six years of service, as a Master Shipbuilder. In 2014, he became a fifty year apprentice graduate. He served his country in the Virginia National Guard, loved the game of golf, and enjoyed playing at the Cedar Point Country Club. Buddy adored his family, and especially looked forward to seeing his grandchildren play in many sports, and attending their games. Buddy is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Ida Lynne Wood; his son, Darrell Wood and wife Sandy; his daughter, Laura Eure and husband Todd; five grandchildren, Jason Wood and wife Naioki, Justin Wood and wife Tracy, Megan Wood, Tim Eure, and Blake Eure; four great-grandchildren, Christian, Allie, Camila, and Bridget; and a sister, Mary Jane Schulte and husband, Frank. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Mount Holly Cemetery in Onancock, VA, on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Dr. Keith M. Curran officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631, or to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1885 Bridge Road, Suffolk, VA 23433. Woodhead, Eleanor S. - Portsmouth  
Eleanor S. Woodhead Portsmouth - Eleanor Roane Smith Woodhead, 91, passed away on July 28, 2015. She was born in Portsmouth to the late Grace Roane Smith and William Henry Smith Sr. and resided there until 2013 when she moved to Dominion Village in Chesapeake. She was predeceased by her brother, William H. Smith, Jr. and her husband, Edwin Ernest Woodhead. Eleanor was a longtime member of Monumental United Methodist Church, a former Girl Scout leader, and a former member of the Portsmouth Junior Woman's Club and Portsmouth Woman's Club. Left to cherish her memory are, her daughter, Mary Ellen Woodhead Byrum and husband John Thomas Byrum, Jr., grandson James Andrew Byrum and wife Tara Arrowood Byrum, great-grandsons, Grayson Kai Byrum, and Avett West Byrum and close family friends, Bob and Wanda Gibble. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth with the Rev. Dabney Walters presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Monumental United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice. Kathleen T. Warren Virginia Beach - Kathleen "Kitty" Virginia Warren, 91, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2015. She is predeceased in death by her husband, of 70 years, Frank F. Warren, Sr., Survivors include two sons, Frank Jr., and Steve Warren, a brother, John Tatem and wife Cathy, sister-in-law, Edna Clay and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was employed by Howell and McNamara Opticians and Studio Optix for some 25 years. She was a beautiful and loving person and will be truly missed by everyone. A graveside service will be held, Wed. July 29, 2015, 2:30pm at Rosewood Memorial Park. Pastor Don Phelps and Chaplain Gary Newsome will be officiating. White III, Dr. John Phillips - Norfolk  
Dr. John Phillips White, III Norfolk - Our beloved father and dear friend, John Phillips White, III, passed away at his daughter's home on July 24, 2015. Dad was born in Baltimore, MD on July 23, 1923 to John P. White, Jr. and Ethel Mae Purcell. He attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. During his surgical residency he met a special nursing student, Geraldine Kilby, and they married in 1951. After serving with the Navy in Japan and Korea, he practiced general surgery in Baltimore before moving to Virginia in 1990. He is preceded in death by Jerry, his wife of 61 years; sister, Thelma Davis; and son-in-law Frank Simms. He is survived by daughters Carol W. Nottingham and Susan W. Simms, and grand-children John Simms (Kristen), Patrick Simms (Fallon), Matthew Nottingham and Grace Nottingham. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the Norfolk Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Wells, Robert Lee - Virginia Beach  
Robert Lee Wells Virginia Beach - Robert Lee "Bobby" Wells, Sr., 79, of Virginia Beach, was called home by his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus, on July 24, 2015. Born to Charter Wells, Sr. and Elizabeth Beaman Wells, he was a life-long resident of South Hampton Roads--from his early years on 33th St., just blocks from City Park to his 55-year residence on the 700 block of Arvin Rd. in Virginia Beach. He enjoyed dancing, driving fast cars, and dining at Doumar's. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, "Bob" also worked for Piedmont Airlines, Sears, and the Naval Air Depot in Norfolk, where he retired. He sang in church choir nearly all of his adult life. In his later years, he faithfully served Elizabeth River Baptist Church as a deacon and the Care Ministry Director. His generous spirit influenced countless people, and his evangelistic heart reached many souls with the Good News of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This, above all else, was his calling. If you do not know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, the family encourages you to learn more about His love at the celebration service. Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene C. (Roberson) Wells; children, Robert "Lee" Wells, Jr. (Gloria) and Laura W. Edwards (Greg); and 7 grandchildren. He was also cherished by his wife's children, Cindy Hiltz (Brad) and Jeremy Ingram (Lisa); and her 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marie S. Wells, and his brothers, Charter Wells, Jr. and James T. Wells. A celebration service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at noon at New Song Fellowship, 865 Woodstock Rd., VB. Benjamin Wiggins Norfolk - Benjamin Wiggins departed this life on July 20th. His is the widow of Irene Wiggins and is survived by two sons: Lewis (Phylis) Wiggins and Thomas (Irma) Wiggins, six grandchildren, and nine siblings.
