Davis, Arnold J. - Virginia Beach
Arnold J. Davis Virginia Beach - Arnold John Davis passed away January 23, 2015. He was the only son of the late Margaret Jenkins Davis and Arnold Davis. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Davis Vance and Evelyn Davis Parsons. Arnold was born in Kingston, PA on June 22, 1929, and moved to Norfolk, VA, as a child. He attended Maury High School and, after graduation, he briefly worked for VEPCO before joining the Air Force and serving in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the service, he graduated from the College of William and Mary (Norfolk Division), now Old Dominion University. He earned an undergraduate degree and master's degree in Education and thoroughly enjoyed many good times with friends as an Imps Fraternity member. Arnie always loved sports and had a long career as a Health and Physical Education teacher at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, retiring in 1994 as a Driver Education teacher. While at Princess Anne, he coached football and wrestling. He also loved coaching Little League baseball for his two sons and softball for his daughter. His favorite professional teams were the Washington Redskins and the Boston Redsox (Ted Williams). Arnold married Carol Wood in 1958, and they were blessed with three wonderful children: Kevin Reed Davis (Lori), Steven Todd Davis (Mary Carol), and Sydney Carol Davis. He also adored his three special grandchildren, Brandon, Bailey, and Cameron. In addition, he leaves behind a loving former daughter-in-law, Deanna Marie Davis. In retirement, Arnie finally found time to take up golf, and he enjoyed many years as a member of the Bow Creek Seniors Golf Association where he served as president for more than ten years. Carol and he loved traveling, spending lots of time with their grandchildren, and worshiping and serving their church, Faith Wesleyan in Norfolk. In recent years, he became a member of Virginia Beach Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He regretted that his declining health prevented him from becoming an active member there. A memorial service celebrating Arnold's life will take place on Saturday, January 31, at 2:00 pm at Virginia Beach Christian Church, 2225 Rose Hall Dr., VA Beach, VA 23454. Prior to service, the family will meet friends in the sanctuary at 1:00 pm for visitation. The Davis family sincerely thanks Dr. Louis Croteau and Dr. Karen Thomas for the excellent care they provided during Arnie's long struggle with Parkinson's disease and Dementia. Arnie also was blessed with excellent and loving caregivers, Hazel, Maribel, and Mila, for whom we have tremendous appreciation. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Autism Society of Tidewater; 5291 Greenwich Rd., Suite #1, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, or to Virginia Beach Christian Church.

Dunn, Kenneth Michael "Mike" - Virginia Beach
Kenneth Michael "Mike" Dunn Virginia Beach - Generous, kind, thoughtful, compassionate, strong, optimistic, loving, selfless, honest, intelligent, happy, and charismatic are adjectives that describe our father, Kenneth Michael "Mike" Dunn, who passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Friendly and loving to all, he wore his honesty on his sleeve. He grew up in New Bern, N.C., received a bachelor's degree from Campbell University, and found his passion early as a restauranteur. Living most of his professional life in Virginia Beach, Dad and Mom experienced success with a restaurant they owned for nearly 20 years. A day never went by that he didn't say and believe what great parents he had. We believe the same. Dad, we will always love you and never forget how incredible you were as father, provider, friend, husband to our mother, and beautiful man to all whose lives you touched. Always- Mary-Jo, Jonathan, and Scott
