Terry D. Roots Portsmouth - Terry D. Roots, 56, of the 900 block of Douglas Avenue passed away on May 24, 2016. She was born in Portsmouth to the late Willie Mae Parker and George M. Goodman, Sr. Terry graduated from Tidewater Community College. She worked as a Dietary Aide with Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center with 25 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Temple. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Glenwood L. Roots; son, Glenwood T. Goodman (Jaton), sisters, Hattie V. McIntyre (Edward), Deborah C. Stafford (Jeremiah) and Willie Mae Brown (Reginald); brothers, George M. Goodman, Jr.(deceased) (Lucy),Tony M. Goodman (Dapahanie) and Ernest O. Goodman (deceased); grandparents, Hattie V. Bell (deceased) and Nathaniel Goodman (deceased); grandchildren, Tazja Goodman, Janiya Goodman and Jarel Goodman; 28 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews and7 great great nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory are the sisters in law, Vanzola Roots, Demetrius Davis, Denise Johnson and Donetta Lawrence and brothers in law, Terry L. Roots and Hilton Horne. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 4 7 pm at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1248 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 28 at Mt. Hermon Temple, 2901 London Blvd., Portsmouth. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Ross, Linwood R. - Norfolk  
Linwood R. Ross Norfolk - Linwood R. Ross passed away on May 25, 2016. He was born to the late Charles R. Ross and Christine Butler Ross on January 16, 1943. Linwood graduated from Maury High School in 1962 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1963, and was a veteran of Vietnam War. He was retired for Norfolk Naval Base after 41 years of service. Linwood is survived by one sister, Ann Galano; niece, Cathy Credle (Rodge Heath); nephew, Michael Galano (Sarah); Tracy Colon (Robert); great nephews, Robbie, Jason, Toby Colon, Collen Credle, Michael Galano; great nieces, Amie Riley and Mia Colon; great-great nieces and nephews, Robert and Nathaniel Colon, Colin, Jr. and Hailey Credle and Sophia Riley; great friends, Paul and Chris Smyers, David and Daniel Calufetti , Phillip Davis and Jamie Doughty. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles R. Ross, III; nephew, Joseph C. Galano; sister, Cherolee E. Ross and friend, Kevin Doughty. Linwood's passion was Drag Racing and building cars. May years ago was a member of The SRS-R, known as the AVRT. The memorial service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. Chapel on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 1 p.m. Followed by burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
