Johnson, Frederick M. - Chesapeake  
Frederick M. Johnson Chesapeake - Frederick Minson Johnson, 88, of the 200 block of Gruen St., left his earthly vessel for his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in a local hospital. Born on July 2, 1927, in Norfolk County (Gilmerton) to the late Thomas and Mary Jones Johnson, he was the 19th of 21 children. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army. He graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1944 and from the College of William and Mary in 1950. He later received his master's degree from George Washington University. Fred was a former coach and teacher in Columbia, N.C., Math Dept. Chairman at Western Branch Junior High School in Chesapeake; and he retired as a teacher for the Chesapeake Public Schools, after 31 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley B. Johnson; a daughter, Jennifer Oglesby and husband Mark; two sons, David W. Johnson and wife Patricia and Frederick V. Johnson and wife Dorie; a brother, Richard T. Johnson; six grandchildren, Nicole, Elizabeth, Lauryn, Jared, Lindsay and Joel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center for their many acts of kindness during this difficult time, especially Pamela Scott, M.D. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Operation Blessing, P.O. Nina Mae Knockett Virginia Beach - Nina Mae Knockett "Niniyah" age 93, passed away on June 16, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Mamie Elizabeth Knockett Mabine and Ethylene Knockett-Skinner and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held, 11am, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Norfolk, VA 23505. A viewing will be held, 5pm-8pm, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.

McDaniel, Kenneth E. - Virginia Beach  
Kenneth E. McDaniel Virginia Beach - Kenneth Edward McDaniel, 56, passed away June 20, 2016. Kenny was predeceased by his mother, Marge Keating; and was employed with the Masa Printing Company, Norfolk. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Robert L. McDaniel and sister, Hope Oldring. Mutchler, Lester - Virginia Beach  
Lester Mutchler Virginia Beach - Lester Frederick Mutchler lost his courageous battle with cancer on June 20, 2016. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 10, 1951 and was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach. Les attended Old Dominion University and received a Bachelor of Science in 1975. He has worked at Davenport & Co., an investment firm in Virginia Beach, for 25 years. Les was preceded in death by his father, Jack Mutchler. He is survived by his mother Jacqueline of Pittsburgh, his daughter Audrey Mutchler, and her mother Jan Mutchler. Les will also be missed by his many friends and clients. Special thanks for all the support from his buddies at Hot Tuna Bar and Grill. The family's arrangements for a memorial service are pending.

Orr, Elizabeth P. - Virginia Beach  
Elizabeth P. Orr Virginia Beach - Elizabeth "Betty" P. Orr, 72, passed away on June 19, 2016. Betty was born in Newfoundland, Canada to the late William and Mahala Young. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and soulmate of 23 years Adloe Orr III. Betty dedicated 30 years to working loss prevention in the retail industry. She had a giving spirit and was a "mother" and "grandmother" to many. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and generosity. Betty was the matriarch of the family which she loved dearly. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bonnie Herring (Bruce); son, William Robert "Rob" Keppler Jr. of Athens, GA and granddaughter Ashley Herring who was the light of her life; along with many other loving family members from Canada. A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, June 25th at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Michael A. Paredes Virginia Beach - Michael A. Paredes, 85, went to be with the Lord on June 18th, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Miguel Paredes and Juanita Sosa. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris E. Paredes. He attended Great Neck Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Doris VanDeRee and husband Larry, Diane Cassini and husband Daniel; sons, Michael C. Paredes and his wife Angela, Richard Paredes and his wife Nancy, David Paredes and his wife Jessica; sister, Hope Lavorata; brother, Bill Paredes; grandchildren, Melissa Labott and husband Jason, Noelle Paredes, Alexandra Rush and husband John, Danny Cassini, Matthew Paredes; great grandchildren, Victoria Labott, Sofia Labott, Lily Ann Labott, and Noah Rush. Prunier, Arthur Richard - Norfolk  
Arthur Richard Prunier Norfolk - Arthur Richard Prunier, 84, passed away on June 18, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Clement and Loretta Drolette Prunier, and wife Virginia Goodwin Prunier. Arthur was a graduate of Granby High School where he proudly played varsity basketball. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. By profession he was a union bricklayer and proud of it! He contributed to the brick & block work on many of the schools, hospitals, larger commercial buildings in the Hampton Roads area and specialty archway work at Regent University. After retiring in 1990 he took up various hobbies. He was a steadfast fan of the Atlanta Braves and of Duke basketball. He is survived by his sister Judith Klages, children Arthur (Crystal) Prunier Jr., Laura (Robert) Taylor and Jeff Prunier; grandchildren Chris Enos, Emily Taylor, Martha VanSickle, Krystle Steepe; 9 great-grandchildren (Caleb, Lilia, Elijah, Isaac and Luke Enos; Bryce & Maya VanSickle; Alexus & Robert Steepe); and his beloved chihuahua Bentley. According to his wishes Arthur will be cremated.
