Hanes, Alice Coyne - Portsmouth  
Alice Coyne Hanes Portsmouth - Alice C. Hanes, 90, went to be with the Lord on Thursday. Alice was the daughter of the late Annie Mae and Michael A. Coyne. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Bernard A. Hanes. Alice was a member of Churchland Baptist Church and held many positions there through the years. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and retired after many years as Curator of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum. She was active and held many positions in the Pilot Club of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Historical Association and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her niece Frances Moore (Judson): great-niece Claudette Lane; great-nephew Gregory Moore (Jamie); great-great-nephews Austin Lane and Jordan Moore survive Alice. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews and other devoted family members. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Churchland Baptist Church by Rev. Lawrence B. Coleman with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. The family suggest memorial contributions to Churchland Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. James "Jimmy" Jones VA Bch - Jimmy, 72, passed away on May 22, 2015. Family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday, May 26th, at Smith & Williams, Kempsville Chapel. Graveside service will be at 10am on Wednesday at Princess Anne Memorial Park.

King, James Menalcus - Franklin  
James Menalcus King Franklin - James "Pete" Menalcus King, 67, passed away May 22, 2015. He was born in Suffolk, VA to the late Gladys Scott King and Herman King. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joann Hazlett. Pete retired from VDOT as the Stockroom Supervisor. He was a Boy Scout leader and co-founder of the Kingsboro Bowmen Archery Association where he won multiple state championships. He was an avid hunter, golfer and a member of the Black Creek Hunt Club. Pete was a musician and played bass in a high school band. He also played soul, rock and country music and was a member of "Southern Express" and "Stronghold" and won several awards. Pete is survived by his wife of 22 years, Charlotte Smith King; step daughters, Kathryn Altman (David) and Jean Xenakis (Vinny); step sons, Robbie Babb (Linda) and Jimmy Babb (Lisa); grandchildren, Robert Altman, Nicholas Altman, Chris Xenakis, Gracie Babb and Ally Babb. A funeral will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 7-8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk Virginia 23434. Burial will be private. Kline, Scott W. - Virginia Beach  
Scott W. Kline Virginia Beach - Scott William Kline, 42, passed away suddenly in Virginia Beach on Tuesday. Scott was born in Gallup, New Mexico to William "Bill" and Margaret "Maggie" Kline. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; daughter, Genoveva; siblings, David Kline and his wife, Angela Gammuto and their daughter, Cambrey Kline; Lynn Coyle and her husband, Ronnie Coyle and their sons, Brayden and Joah Coyle as well as his pugs, Sophie, Cujo and Oscar. Scott always put his family first. When he wasn't with family he was an avid video gamer and sports fan. He was highly passionate about books, vinyl records, games and the Oklahoma State University Cowboys Football team. He graduated from OSU with a Bachelor's in Chemistry and went on to pursue a Master's Degree at the University of Iowa. After college, Scott taught at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School and TCC. Scott wanted the best for his students and loved teaching. Full of love and life, he will be missed by all. A funeral mass will be conducted at 3pm, Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Scott's wish was for donations to be placed in a Textbook Scholarship Fund for Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School. Lewis, Walter E. - Courtland  
Walter E. Lewis Courtland - Walter Evan Lewis, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. He was born in Scranton, PA to the late Walter and Fannie Lewis. He faithfully served the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a radio man in B17 bombers. He retired from the Department of the Navy as an accountant, and was a member of Elizabeth Manor Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He is predeceased by his wife Jackie Lewis. Masek, David C. - Chesapeake  
David C. Masek Chesapeake - David Christian Masek, 67, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was a native of Belle Fourche; SD. David faithfully served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and later spent a good part of his life in overseas mission work especially in Haiti. He is survived by his wife Susan; three daughters, Carolyn Collett, Kristen Masek, Samantha Yeagars, nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. McInnis, Sharon Durham - Chesapeake  
Sharon Durham McInnis Chesapeake - Sharon Durham McInnis, 64, passed peacefully at her Chesapeake home on May 20, 2015. She was surrounded by her husband and lifelong companion of 43 years, Jerome McInnis. A Norfolk native, Sharon called Oakwood and Campostella her family homes, Gethsemane Community Fellowship her spiritual home, and the Waterside Marriott her work home where she dedicated more than 20 years in hospitality services. The Tidewater Community College degree-holding hotel supervisor is predeceased by her parents William and Bessie Durham, and her siblings Mildred Darlene Durham and Bernard Lewis. Sharon will be remembered by her children Sherwood and Aisha Durham and Jerome Edmonds; brothers William, Clifford, Carl, and Vincent Durham, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.The homegoing celebration will take place Tuesday, May 26, 1 pm, Metropolitan,Berkley Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Viewing Monday, 11am-3pm.

Mildred Aycock Murray Virginia Beach - Mildred A. Murray, 92, of the 1100 block of Five Forks Rd., passed away on May 21, 2015. Born in Wilson County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Annie Daniels Aycock and Jesse D. Aycock. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Murray; her daughters Betty Murray Murden and Mildred Anita Moke; brothers Clifford, J.D. and Aaron Aycock; sisters Myrtle A. Lewis and Marie A. Johnson. Mrs. Murray retired after 33 years teaching in Norfolk City Schools. She is survived by two grandsons William Christopher Moke and Raymond David Murden; granddaughter Stacy Murden Morse; great granddaughter Lily Henry; great grandson Jacob Morse; sister Marcelene Aycock Moore and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-3p.m. on 5/27 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA followed by a 3p.m. Graveside at Rosewood Memorial Park. Parr, Erna Miller - Virginia Beach  
Erna Miller Parr Virginia Beach - Erna Miller Parr Born again Christian (John 3:3-7), Erna Miller Parr entered the Kingdom of God on May 19, 2015. Erna was born on February 3, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frieda and Joseph Miller. She was an honor graduate of John Adams High School and attended Western Reserve University on a scholarship. During this time Erna met her husband, George W. Parr Jr., who was in Army Air Corps cadet training in Cleveland. After WW II, Erna and George settled in Norfolk where George finished his apprenticeship at Norfolk Naval Air Station. Erna worked in several executive secretarial positions in the Tidewater area which enabled her children to graduate from college free from student debt. She volunteered her time and talents as a Sunday school teacher, a docent at the Chrysler Museum, serving on the Luther Manor Auxiliary, delivering Meals on Wheels, and working in Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a reading volunteer. Erna was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, George, and her sister, Frieda Taylor. She leaves behind to rejoice in her joining our Lord and Savior, her son, George W. Parr III, and his wife Beth; her daughter, Frieda Guran, and her husband Eric; her grandsons, Geoffrey Parr, James Parr and his wife Nathalia, and Ricky Guran and his fiancée Bernadette Hutchinson; her granddaughter, Susan Trentham and her husband David; her great grandson, Drew Trentham; her cousin, Edward Polder; nieces, Judy Floyd and her husband Bill, and Gerri Fleming; nephews, Bruce Taylor and his wife Mary Jean, and Greg Taylor; and great nephew Garrett Taylor. She will also be mourned by her dear friend and beloved companion, John Spelce. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and especially Erna's caregivers, Tanesha Bishop and Lita Heninger for their loving devotion to her. A memorial service to celebrate Erna's life will be held at her church, St. Michael Lutheran Church, at a later date. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road are handling arrangements.
