Foley, Colleen A. - Virginia Beach  
Colleen A. Foley Virginia Beach - Colleen A. Foley, age 89, passed away Aug. 27, 2015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help after an illness. Colleen was born August 16, 1926, in Roanoke, VA to the late Ellis Howell and Viola Akers Howell. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother. Colleen married the love of her life, the late William Francis Foley. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her two boys, Timothy Francis Foley and the late Patrick William Foley. Bill and Colleen remained in Virginia Beach for 38 years. Colleen enjoyed her children and her grandchildren and is survived by her son, Timothy Francis Foley, his wife, Mary of Virginia Beach. Their children, William Patrick Foley of Virginia Beach and Shannon Marie Foley and her fiancé Earl L Williams, III of Cary, NC. Her niece, Cindy Holland and her children, Christa Fleischer and Cheryl Cooper and her nephew William Compton, Bremerton, WA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach on Monday August 31, 2015. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery (behind H.D. Oliver). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in Colleen's name to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Colleen's family would like to thank all the special people at Our Lady for the special care they provided to her while she was there. They would also like to share their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the Hospice team who kept Colleen comfortable at the end of her life. Forehand, Paul D. - Chesapeake  
Paul D. Forehand Chesapeake - Paul Dudley Forehand, 84, of the 2200 block of Ferndale Road, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Sentara Norfolk General. A native of New Bern, NC, he was retired from Johns Brothers and was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cuddington Forehand; two sons, Paul Derrell Forehand and wife Donna of Portsmouth and Chester Linwood Forehand and wife Doris of Chesapeake; a sister, Carol Smith of Atlantic Beach, FL; a brother, Earl Forehand of Kinston, NC; in-laws, Louise Forehand, Wade and Sharon Cuddington, Hilda Cuddington, and Ralph and Penny Cuddington; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Chester, Jill and Emily; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the staff at Sentara Norfolk General for their skill and compassion during his stay. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5, in Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Greco and Rev. Jason Lewis. Entombment will be private in Woodlawn Memorial Mausoleum. Harold D. Fryar Virginia Beach - Harold D. Fryar, 79, passed away on August 30, 2015. Born in Miami, FL, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria V. Fryar. A Vietnam Veteran, he retired as a Major in the United States Army. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Dr. Christienna Fryar of Buffalo, NY; and beloved sister, Lillian Bryant of Lakewood, NJ. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown, Kempsville Chapel. Gargano, Naoma D. - Virginia Beach  
Naoma D. Gargano Virginia Beach - Naoma Davenport Gargano, 97, went home to the Lord on Monday August 31, 2015 at home with her devoted family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Willie Wayland and Miama Jane Davenport of Cresswell, NC. She was born on July 21st or 22nd in Cresswell. Naoma was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest V Gargano Sr. She is survived by her children Sylvia Lynn Atkins and her husband Donald of Midlothian, Celia Victoria James and her husband Skip of Rock Hill, SC, Kathy Sue Grigg and her husband David of Bedford, Va, and Noma D Fleischer and her husband Lee of Va Beach. Also surviving are her step children Betty Jean Kepart and Ernest V Gargano Jr, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, her sister, Hope Sherrell Nocella, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Naoma had many interest and talents. First and foremost being a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was very active in her church, Park Place Baptist, Norfolk and held many functions at her home in Colonial Place cooking and entertaining not only for her Sunday School but for many other occasions such as showers, weddings, parties. Her home was always the gathering place for all family and friends. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, junking and restoring her finds. The family wishes to thank devoted friends, care givers and especially Brianne, Ruby, and Dick with Heartland Hospice. A celebration of her life will held at HD Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Rd, Va. Beach on Friday Sept 4. Visitation will be at Noon, Memorial Service at 1:00 pm followed by interment at Rosewood Memorial Park on 631 N Witchduck Rd. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com .

Gautier Sr., Curtis R. - Chesapeake  
Curtis R. Gautier, Sr. Chesapeake - Curtis Randel Gautier, Sr., 76 died August 27, 2015. Mr. Gautier was born in Faison, NC to the late Jasper and Rosa Mae Hare Gautier. He enjoyed working as an engineer on a tug boat and tinkering in his workshop. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Catherine Gautier; children, Andrew and Curtis R. Gautier, Jr. of Chesapeake; siblings, Jasper Gautier of Wayne Co., NC, Fuzzy Gautier of Mt Olive, NC, Pauline King and Gladys Creech of Wayne Co., NC; grandson, Chris Gautier and his wife Stacey of Chesapeake; and great grandchildren, Christina and Joshua. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home on Saturday from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm; A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Bishop William Paramore officiating. Glazer, Sylvia Lerner - Norfolk  
Sylvia Lerner Glazer Norfolk - Sylvia Lerner Glazer, 73, of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at home. She was a retired secondary school teacher from Norfolk, VA. Sylvia moved to Charleston in 1972 and attended Temple Israel. She was a graduate of the National Cathedral School, Washington, DC and William and Mary College, Williamsburg, VA. Sylvia loved reading, making miniature gardens and spending time with her family. Although birds and bats terrified her, she had a great love for dogs (especially cute tiny ones), horses and furry animals. She loved updating her Facebook page with seasonal cartoons and book recommendations. Sylvia touched everyone in her life and left her love with all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Frederic Jay Glazer; and her parents, Herman and Dorothy Lerner. She is survived by her son, Hoyt Glazer (Melanie) of Huntington; daughter, Hilary Glazer (Steve Jones) of Chicago, IL; and 2 grandchildren, Seth and Lydia Glazer. Graveside Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23505. Malinda Scott Gregory Nassawadox - Malinda Scott Gregory, 54, died on September 1, 2015 in Nassawadox. Ruth R. Guess Virginia Beach - Ruth Rachel Guess, 84, passed away August 26, 2015. She was born to the late Vance E. and Sarah Barker Russell and was also preceded by her son, Russell L. Guess; siblings, Helen Powers, Lillian Roach, and Ralph Russell. Ruth, affectionately known as "Bootsie" retired after 50 years of service from C & P Telephone and spent much of her free time playing her favorite game Bridge with her Bridge club and going out to dinner with the Dinner Bells. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia A. Dejongh and her husband Paul, William "Brad" Guess; grandchildren, Hayley J. Ewan, Josh C. Guess; and sister, Mary Bess; and companion, Norman Zwahlen. A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Hipolito L. Gutierrez Portsmouth - Hipolito Lagman Gutierrez, 85, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 30, 2015. Hipolito was a native of Angeles City in the Phillipnes, and the son of the late Apolonia and Gregorio Gutierrez. Hipolito is predeceaded in death by his first wife Aurora N. Gutierrez. Hipolito is survived by his loving wife Delia Gutierrez; children, Jethadel Wine, Kristoferson Pradilla , Jetulio Pradilla Jr, Archimedes Pradilla; grandchildren, Liam C. Wine, Angelica Pradilla, Ma. Diana Pradilla, Jetulio Pradilla III, Arden Christopher Pradilla, Kristian Carl Pradilla, Kheisley Ann Pradilla, Kean Pradilla.
