Margaret G. Caldwell
Norfolk - Margaret Graham Caldwell, 87, of Evergreen Ave. passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Born in Virginia, she was the widow of Kenna M. Caldwell. She is survived by her son, Vernon Caldwell and wife Gayle of Norfolk and granddaughter, Elizabeth Caldwell.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

Norfolk - Patricia Anne Gerstle, 71, passed away on May 23, 2013. She was born on April 27, 1942 to the late John J. and Blanche M. Gillespie in Hazelton, Pa.
She is survived by her son Terrance P. Gerstle; daughter Heidi Priestley; and four grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held on Sun., May 26, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk. Evelyn E. Holloway
Virginia Beach - Evelyn Eyvonne Holloway, 71, of Sangaree Circle passed away May 22, 2013. She was born in Spring Hope, NC to the late Hassel and Gertrude Anderson Watson and was the wife of the late Carl L. Holloway. Evelyn retired with the Norfolk Public Schools.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Retha V. Watson, Rosalyn Pagan, Felicia Goodman; son, Anthony Holloway; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie Harper and Lottie Bazemore; and a brother, John Brewer.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will celebrate the repass following the service. She will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Charles E. Hughes
Suffolk - Charles E. "Charlie" Hughes, 64, passed away at his Suffolk home on May 23, 2013. A native of Norfolk, Va., Charlie was a graduate of Norview High School (1967) and Calhoun School of Engineering in Maryland. He had a long, successful career in the marine industry, and was a retired chief engineer with the Merchant Marines, and most recently retired as a senior marine surveyor with the American Bureau of Shipping. Charlie was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church and Churchland Masonic Lodge # 276.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie Spaugh Hughes; daughter, Donna Hughes Weingand (Darryl); and son, Charles Edward Hughes Jr.; mother, Lena Virginia Hughes; brother, Irving E. Hughes Jr. (Nancy); and four beautiful grandchildren: Noah (15), Meredith (11), Gillian (9) Weingand; and Cayden Hughes (9). He is predeceased by his father, Irving E. Hughes.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel by Pastor Steve Bingham. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and suggest memorial contributors to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Virginia Beach - Claudine M. Stoneburg, 65, of Cabin John Drive passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Born in Crowley, La., she was the widow of John Henry Stoneburg III. She was working as an accountant with Palm Associates.
Claudine is survived by three sons, Michael W. Stoneburg (Shannon) of Virginia Beach, Anthony T. Stoneburg (Wendy) of Las Vegas, Nev. and John H. Stoneburg IV (Nicole) of Upper Marlboro, Md.; daughter, Sharon Schnelle (Jeff); 12 grandchildren; brother, Ronny Leger of California; sister, Bonnie Gayle Tomlin of Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

Phyllis Thayer
Virginia Beach - Phyllis Thayer died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Phyllis, originally from Burlington, Ontario, was a loving and adventurous woman with family and close friends from all over the world.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Thayer, and parents May and Peter Loonam. Survivors include her daughters Sherry Riser, and Lynne Snyder and husband Richard; grandsons Brent Snyder, Mark Rabovsky and Brandy Hensley, Thomas Rabovsky, Gregory Snyder and Levi Patterson; great-grandsons Brandon Hensley and Mark Rabovsky Jr.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road Virginia Beach. Funeral service will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3229 MacDonald Road, Virginia Beach, VA at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn of Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
