Portsmouth - Alloyce Geneva Simpson, 89, was the daughter of the late Vera Elliot Barber and Melvin Clyde Barber of Tupelo, MS. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Walter Clyde Simpson, Jr.; son, Jimmy D. Picket; sister, Vera Azalee and 5 brothers, Melvin, Cleburn, Bernard, Dale and Truman Barber. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Picket; son, William E. Picket and brother, William Murrah Barber; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Alloyce was a licensed Vocational Instructor of Cosmetology at Northeast Miss. Jr. College where she taught for 10 years. She earned her vocational degree from Miss. State University.
A member of the Federation Women's Club in Booneville from 1987 to 1997 served as Treasury Secretary and Vice President. She joined the Portsmouth Federation Woman's Club in 1999 was an avid golfer and loved playing Bridge. She was a very active member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Centenary United Methodist Church by Rev. Lisa Nordon and Bonnie Whitehurst with burial to follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
