Clayton Mosley

Norfolk - Clayton Horace Mosley, beloved father and grandfather, departed this life on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Formerly of Chesapeake, Clayton was the son of the late Isaac Lamb and Mildred Mosley.

A devoted Christian, he was a member of St. Lukes A.M.E. Church, Chesapeake, where he attended and supported the ministry for over 75 years. Clayton was also devoted to the Masonic brotherhood for many years, most recently he was associated with the Excelsior Lodge # 87.

He served proudly in the US Army prior to entering Eckels College of Embalming, Philadelphia, PA, where he earned a degree in Mortuary Science. For many years he owned and operated Mosley Funeral Home in Norfolk's Campostella section until his retirement.

Clayton had a kind heart and gentle spirit; he was a man always eager to help fellow professionals, his church family, and anyone in need.

Left cherishing his memory are: His son, Robert Cooke (Amanda); daughter, Barbra Hunt (John); 10 Grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of loving friends. He is the widower of Elder Lillian Richardson Mosley.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 9, at St. Lukes A.M.E Church. Viewing will be held at the church Friday, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, a wake service will immediately follow the viewing.
