Virginia Beach - Dr. Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Flick M.D., 52, passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2012 at her home in Virginia Beach after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Cindy was born on June 20th, 1960 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was married on August 20th, 1983 to Paul L. Flick of Philadelphia, Pa.
She graduated from the University of Toledo in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Chemistry. In 1987, she went on to graduate from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with a doctorate degree in Medicine. She selected to serve her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center.
After relocating to Virginia Beach in 1991, Cindy served as Associate Professor and Residency Program Director for PM&R at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Later she worked at Bon Secours DePaul Hospital treating patients in the physical rehabilitation unit there. She is known for playing a key role in the establishment of the rehabilitation unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in 2007, and was the founding and current physiatrist there.
Cindy was an avid reader and book club member. She loved gardening and would often be seen tending to the flowers around her home.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Brian; daughter, Kathleen; father, Franklin Karl Shealy of Columbia, South Carolina; mother, Lee Louise Shealy of Virginia Beach; sisters, Barbara Claire Horner of Virginia Beach & Karla Dey of Dayton, Ohio.
A private, family service will be held at the Holloman-Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach.

Her smiling face and generous heart will be etched in the minds of all who met and loved her. We'll miss you Cindy!
