LT. David L. Hubert
Chesapeake - LT. David L. Hubert, USN (RET.) went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
Dave was born in Charlotte, MI on August 6, 1938 to the late Glenn and Margaret Hubert. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years Netitia "Tish" Hubert; a daughter Christine Hubert; a brother Russell; a sister Beverly Nitz and a grandson Brandon Smith.
He was a 1956 graduate of Huron High School, New Boston, MI. In August 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy
as an Airman, serving on six aircraft carriers, retiring in 1977 aboard the USS Eisenhower. Dave later retired from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (Lutheran Brotherhood) as an Insurance/Financial Advisor. Dave was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, Chesapeake. He served on the church council, was the congregational President several times, taught adult Sunday school, worked in the Food Pantry and served the Lord in a multitude of other ways.
Survivors include his wife and friend of 13 years Marlene; a son Brian Hubert of Chesapeake; a step-son Kraig Siegel (Mary Lou) of Bloomington, MN; step-daughters Kandi Nash of Chesapeake and Karen Siegel of Virginia Beach; sisters, Sharon Sinclair (Brad) of Belleville MI; Barbara Sader of Kansas City MO; a brother Norman Hubert (Debbie) of Belleville MI; a granddaughter Megan Sovine and friend John Sowers; a grandson Devin Hubert; a step-grandson Chris Jones (Samantha) as well as five great-grandchildren with another on the way!
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. N. Terry, Dr. Bethany Tan, the staff at Sentara Leigh Hospital ICU, and Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital who were a vital part of Dave's care and rehab.
A graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 22, in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 521 Providence Rd., Chesapeake. Rev. Joel Neubauer will officiate.
The viewing will begin on Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
