Donald J. Bove
Chesapeake - Donald Joseph Bove, 79, entered into eternity Sunday, December 23, 2012.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Frank and Josephine Bove. His sister, Mary Gosek of Philadelphia also passed away before him. Before coming to Chesapeake he was a resident of East Hanover and Newark, New Jersey. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Mark and the Wisdom Seekers of St. Mark. Donald was a member of the Roma Lodge #224 Order Sons of Italy in America and the Moose Aragona Village Lodge # 1198. He also loved bowling with the Virginia Beach Couples Club. He retired in 1998 from Voltronics, Inc. in East Hanover, New Jersey.
Donald was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His family especially his grandson Michael were his pride and joy. He had a great sense of humor, a big generous kind heart and a great smile. He loved his friends and was always a friend for life. A gentle, caring and beautiful person he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We have been so lucky to have been loved by him.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 46 years Eleanor; daughter, Joanne Wheeler and her husband Michael Lee and a grandson, Michael Donovan Wheeler of Virginia Beach; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2012 at the Catholic Church of St. Mark, 1505 Kempsville Road Virginia Beach. The Reverend Father William L. Pitt will celebrate the Mass. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Heartland Hospice and Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their kindness and compassionate care that was given to Don and his family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 5029 Corporate Woods Drive, Suite 200, Virginia Beach VA 23462 or to Heritage Hall 5580 Daniel Smith road Virginia Beach VA 23462.
