Portsmouth - Edward L. Mintz, 89, passed away in Maryview Hospital April 23, 2013. He was a member of Sanctuary of Hope, Church of God. He retired from Norshipco as Crane and Transportation Forman. He was a member of the Portsmouth # 100, having joined the Masonic Lodge in 1962 Ed was able to receive his 50 year pin.
Ed is survived by his wife Delores Mintz; a sister Dot Burbage of Florida; three children, his son Butch Mintz and his wife Dee of North Carolina; Daughters Pat Jordan of Portsmouth, and Carolynn Davis of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren, Michelle and Steven Sahl of Portsmouth, Loretta and John Wood of Chesapeake, Shannon Taylor of Georgia, Tammy Swain of Richmond, Christy and David Williams of North Carolina , Sterling and Angie Mintz of North Carolina, Stanly Mintz North Carolina, Yvonne Vaughan of North Carolina, Jennifer and Morris Moore of North Carolina, and Erica Belfield of Japan; 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday at noon in Westhaven Park Church of God 3516 Winchester Dr. Portsmouth, with internment to follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. The family will receive friend in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel Thursday from 6 to 8 p. m. Online condolences may be made at www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
