Elizabeth P. Crew(1939 - 2013)

Elizabeth P. Crew
Norfolk - Elizabeth Pauline Crew, 74, affectionately known as Betty or Bets to family and close friends; was received as a heavenly angel on May 26, 2013 with her family by her side. Betty was born to the late Harry and Theresa Wersten on May 10, 1939 in West Port Baltimore, MD; and predeceased by her sister Janice Zepp.
Betty graduated from Southern High School in 1957. In 1958 Bets married the love of her life John Crew in MD. After her husband entered the NAVY they relocated to Norfolk Virginia. From their union they had three children, Connie, John Jr. and Candy. She loved the Lord, and served willingly. Betty was a talented musician and singer, and used her God given talent to serve at church, nursing homes, and with children. She played several instruments, including the piano and accordion. Betty truly used her talents to show everyone how God has been a blessing in her life. She and her husband helped civilian and military families in making sure they felt loved by feeding them, making sure they were housed, had transportation, and a "family" for the holidays. Whatever she could do to help, she would. Bets ultimately loved to entertain family and friends; they were her pride and joy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 54 years, John Crew Sr.; three children Connie Pepple, John Crew Jr., and Candy Mejia (Jerry); six grandchildren Leigh Ballance (Jesse), M. Amanda Pepple (Kevin), Justin Mejia (Jennifer), Tyler Mejia (Shanti), Brandy Baddeley, and Morgan Baddeley; and six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Baliee, Brandon, Lily, MaKenzy, and Cole. Sister Sharon Clark (Frank); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 6-8 p.m., with funeral services Saturday, June 1, 11 a.m., with interment to immediately follow. All services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. 6329. E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk VA 23502. Please feel free to donate to the Dementia Association.
