Portsmouth - Evelyn Joyner Turman Stilley, 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 16, 2014. She was a devoted former member of Park View Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, decorated, and served for church functions. She was born in Norfolk and lived most of her life in Portsmouth where she retired as an Assistant Branch Manager for Wells Fargo.
Evelyn was predeceased by her first husband, George W. Turman III, her second husband, Robert Stilley, her parents Irene and Paul Joyner, her sister, Cora J. Copeland (Ephraim), and brother Williamson P. Joyner (Mary). She is survived by her daughter, Sandra T. Bunting (Bill); son, George W. Turman IV (Darlene); step-daughter Rainell S. Rowell (Randy); grandchildren, Lyn Bunting, Chris Bunting, Monica Wilder, Quinten Turman, and Jessica Williams; step-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Rowell; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Drew Bunting, Saige Seals, and Leah Wilder.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care and compassion given to Evelyn by Dr. Richard Bikowski and his EVMS Portsmouth Family Medicine team at Maryview Hospital as well as the staff at Hillcrest Retirement Center for their day to day loving care.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel by Rev. Aaron Brittain and Rev. Neal Sasser with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
