Fred V. Blankenship

Virginia Beach - – Fred V. Blankenship, 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

Born in Lynchburg, VA to the late Thomas L. and Ella Catherine Blankenship, he was retired from the U. S. Army as a CWO2 and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He attended War College. He also retired from civil service.

Fred was a member of Great Neck Baptist Church and served as a deacon of the church. He was also a member of D.A.V. Chapter 20 in Virginia Beach and he coached little league baseball for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Norma Cloyd Blankenship; two daughters, Vicki Colston and husband Jim of Windsor, VA, Lisa Donovan and husband Jim of Virginia Beach; three sons, Wyndal K. Blankenship and wife Kaye of Florida, Curt A. Blankenship of Virginia Beach and Brian T. Blankenship and wife Renee of Virginia Beach; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends at Great Neck Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary by Mr. Michael Spencer and Rev. Dr. K. Todd Holt. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel is assisting the family. Condolences may be offered to the family at
