Horace McCullom
Virginia Beach - Horace "Mac" McCullom, 90, died peacefully May 19, 2013, at his home. Mac was born in Cumberland, New Jersey. He joined the Navy in 1939 and served in World War II and Korean Wars. During his service in Key West, Florida he met the love of his life, Shirley Anderson, in 1946 and married there April 3, 1949. They moved to Virginia Beach in 1957 and raised three children. Mac enjoyed fishing, crabbing and taking his grandchildren roller skating and watching them for hours. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and neighbor. He enjoyed taking vegetables from his garden to the neighbors and feeding the neighborhood animals. He was a man with a kind heart and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Mac is survived by his beloved wife Shirley; sister, Sister Joseph-Miriam; daughter Linda Morris; sons Robert and James McCullom; daughter in law Cathy McCullom; grandchildren Ivan and Shawn Morris, and Cody and Ryan McCullom; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wed., May 22, at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. Flowers may be sent to Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
