Virginia Beach - James Leonard Clendening of Virginia Beach went to be with the Lord March 19, 2014. He was born October 3, 1927, in Washington, DC to the late John Leonard Clendening and Vera Pearl Harrison Clendening residing in Meadow View, MD. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his sister Pinky Diffenbach. Jim served his country proudly in the United States Navy
serving during World War II
and the Korean Conflict
. Jim retired in 1990 as Service Manager at Ourisman Chevrolet in Hillcrest Hgts., MD. The couple lived in Ocean City and moved to a house Jim built in Ocean Pines, MD before moving to Virginia Beach in 2006 to be near their daughters.
He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, June Glenn Clendening; daughters, Valerie Jamieson and Nancy Ayers; grandson, Rickey Ayers and granddaughter Private Amber Burdo (U.S. Army); great-grandaughter, Taylor Burdo; brothers, Gary Clendening , John Clendening and Daniel Clendening.
