James G. Peeler Jr.
Norfolk - James Gordon Peeler, Jr., 61 passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Gordon served in the U.S. Army and was a 100% disabled Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of ODU, after which he spent many years in the Automotive Business. Next to his family, his greatest passion was soccer, which he spent over 50 years playing and coaching. He loved the ocean almost as much as his grandchildren & great-granddaughter. Gordon was the epitome of a "free spirit".
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 28 years (together 37), Diane Lee Peeler; son, Captain Thomas Higgins; daughters, Tracey Crowson & Lori Roberts (Billy); grandchildren, Jeremy & Michelle Jones and Jessica & Jacob Roberts; great-grandchild, Alecia Mae Askew and her father Keynan Askew. Also surviving are two uncles and wives, one aunt and spouse, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and many many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Association. A Celebration of his life will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Monday, February 18, 2013, at 12 pm with a reception following the service.
