James S. Forbes

Jarvisburg - Beloved husband, father, grandfather and family member, James Sanderlin Forbes of Jarvisburg, NC, went home to be with the Creator of Life on Monday, May 12, 2014. His passing will leave a void in the lives of those who loved and cared for him.

James, the son of the late Henry Forbes and Ellen Sanderlin Forbes, was born and raised in Camden County (Riddle), NC. He had five siblings, Luther, William, Emily, Henry and Ida Mae. He was a lead inspector at the Ford Motor Plant, a member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge #178 and a US Navy Veteran of WWII.

James was united in marriage to Rose Notarianni Forbes, who he met in 1942 while stationed at the US Naval Base in Quonsett Point, RI. They lived their blissful married years in Chesapeake, VA, Fincastle, VA and Jarvisburg, NC.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters Rose Ellen Smith of Albuquerque, NM, Judy McRoy of Oklahoma City, OK and her husband Joseph and Marie Forbes of Daleville, VA; seven grandchildren, David, Shane, James, Dana, Andrea, Warren and Amanda; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John David Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in the Forbes Family Cemetery, Sandy Hook Road, Riddle, NC with military honors rendered by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060.
