Norfolk - With deep sadness, but still in hope, we mourn the loss of Janice, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota with brother Wayne and sister Maxine.

She was a graduate of Valley City State College and received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. She was a dedicated teacher in the Richfield school district for 34 years. She was a long time Edina resident and part time resident of Norfolk, Virginia.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a long time member of Mount Olivet Church, world traveler, patron of the arts, avid reader, champion of United States Veterans, and historic preservations.

She is survived by her son Richard, granddaughter Shawnya, three nieces, and many friends.

A viewing will be held Tuesday February 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Altmeyer Funeral Homes 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com
