Jesse Jackson Jr.
Virginia Beach - Born in Augusta, Georgia, on August 13, 1934, to the late Jesse Jackson Sr., and Mexie Smalley. Jesse was educated in Augusta Public School System. He served 22 years of honorable service in the United States Navy
; and retired from Civil Service with 20 years for the 2nd time. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Jesse III and Thomas Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories and everlasting wisdom Ruby, his devoted wife of 55 years; two sons, Michael (Lisa) of Suffolk, Virginia; Marvin (Camille) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one daughter, Antionette Pruden of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Lillie B. President of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren Karlton, Jr., Christopher, Stephen, Kendall, and Kara; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. One of Jesse's greatest enjoyments was helping others. He was a humanitarian. Those who knew Jesse, knew him to be a big man with a kind and gentle heart, an avid conversationalist, and a man of earthly wisdom with an unquenchable thirst for life. We give God blessings and honor, glory and power, praises and thanksgiving for sharing Jesse, and we have the blessed assurance that our dearly beloved is nesting around the throne of God. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 12, at Queen Street Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 11, at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Chapel.
