Joseph Clinton Beck, Jr.
Virginia Beach - Joseph Clinton Beck, Jr., 78, passed away January 3, 2013. He was born November 17, 1934 in Saint Louis, MO and has been a resident of Virginia Beach since 1941. Joe was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Michelle Exum, and granddaughter Justine Sherwood. Joe graduated from Oceana High School in 1953 and joined the Marines that fall. After 7 years in the Corps, Joe ended his military career as a Staff Sergeant, he joined the Norfolk Police Department in 1961. After 1 year he joined the Princess Anne County PD. After the merger of the county and the city, he became a City of Virginia Beach PD officer and retired in 1997 as a Master Police Officer.
He was a Master Mason and member of Lodge # 274 AF & AM and a member of Khedive Shrine Center. He was Director of the Khedive Drum & Bugle Corps 1990-1991, President of VA Beach Shrine Club 1987 and 2008, Captain of the Mini Motors 2009, Comaxilli Teocalli #117 2008, and charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8.
Left to cherish his memory is the 38 year love of his life, Debbie Fessler, four Children Michael, Susan, Carl (Susan), and Diane (Mark) Beck, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel at 7:00 PM followed by a service at 8:00 PM on Wednesday January 9, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Khedive Shriner's Hospital Transportation Fund, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
