Kenric Jay Johnson
Chesapeake - Kenric Jay Johnson, 54, went to be with his Lord and Savior February 2, 2014, due to complications from leukemia.
Kenric was born in Lincoln, NE, on January 24, 1960, to Kenneth Johnson (deceased) and Carol (Benn) Johnson of Peoria, IL. Kenric is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nina Johnson; their two sons, Matthew and Michael; his brother, Thane Johnson; and his sister, Leslie Pape.
Kenric grew up in Washington, IL, and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois
in 1983. He moved to Virginia in 1988 and worked for Jefferson National Laboratory and Siemens Automotive in Newport News. He then stayed home to raise his sons and they are his greatest legacy. Kenric also excelled as an abstract artist and photographer. Kenric was very active at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, where he taught high school Sunday school and helped with other youth activities. Kenric was known for his quick wit, his insightfulness, his love for his family, his skills as an artist, and for his faith.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, at 11 a.m., at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Memorial donations may be made to Great Bridge United Methodist Church or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
