Norfolk - Mark Berry Evans, 89, of Norfolk, Virginia died June 20, 2013 at The Norfolk Healthcare Center. Mr. Evans was born in Norfolk, VA in 1924. He is survived by his long-time friend, Earlene Greene of Norfolk, Virginia and friends.
He started his career by entering the Army
in 1943 where he was stationed in Naples, Italy. After leaving Italy, Mr. Evans was sent to the Philippines where he participated in the Philippines Campaign as part of the Pacific Theatre of World War II. While in the Army, Mr. Evans received four bronze stars
and victory medals. Mr. Evans left the Army in 1955 and eventually became a union representative for the AFL-CIO working in the Hampton Roads area. After working for many years with the union and travelling around the world, Mr. Evans retired and became an investigative agent with a law firm.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Woodland Ave. Bapt. Ch. Viewing will be be on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.keithmatthewsfuneralhome.com
