Norfolk - Martin A. Sedlack Jr. (Marty), 88, passed away peacefully March 24, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones in his home. He was born in Coaldale, Pa, May 18, 1924. Marty retired from the US Navy with 21 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. He also served as a Major for HRBT (VDOT) for 24 years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Fleet Reserve Branch 60 and a Navy Veteran of WWII and Korean War.
Marty is survived by the love of his life of 67 years, Wilma O. Sedlack; daughter, Linda C. Yancey and husband Leonard of Chesapeake; 2 grandchildren, Maria Furey and husband Kevin of Chesapeake and Kenneth Sedlack of Newport News; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elizabeth Sedlack; his son, Tommy Ray Sedlack; and his brother, Andrew Martin Sedlack.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday March 27th at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Nixon Negparanon officiating and burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. where a Christian Wake service will be held at 6 p.m.
