Newton L. T. James

Chesapeake - Newton Lawrence Tillman James passed Jan. 30, 2014.

Born on June 3, 1931 in Norfolk, VA, he served our Country in the Korean War. He apprenticed at the Virginian Pilot. He moved to Washington, D.C. after marrying his wife, Elizabeth M. James, and worked with the Washington Post Newspaper for 28 years. He was with the Knights of Columbus and was a kind, caring and generous man.

He leaves behind his daughter, Mary Carol Lynch; two grandchildren, Erica and Bridgitte; sister, Susanna Havens; nephews, John, Paul, Earl, Richard and a niece, Amy.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown, Kempsville Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Mark. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at:
