Virginia Beach - Rachel Jones Williams passed away Feb. 22, 2013. She was born in Salisbury, Maryland to Mary Dennis Jones and Richard Bass Jones and was raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Herbert L. Williams, originally from Lynchburg, Va., a brother, J. Walker Jones, and a sister, Anne J. Banks, from Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Rachel graduated from St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA. She was a member of Galilee Church, and the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
She was the loving mother of Richard J. Williams (Nancy), Stuart L. Williams, Carter Whitlatch, and Tyler Rubio (John), and devoted grandmother to Meredith Williams Allin (Sam), Walker Williams, Jay Whitlatch, Don Whitlatch, Taylor Williams, Joy Williams, Rachel Rubio and Spencer Rubio.
All will miss her sense of humor, and ability to tell a good story. Rachel loved to travel, work on crossword puzzles, and was an avid bridge player with a group that lasted nearly 50 years.
Services will be held at Galilee Church on Friday March 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Galilee Church, 3928 Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, or the Atlantic Shores Employee Gift fund, 1200 Atlantic Shores Drive, Virginia Beach, VA., 23454.
