Robert G. Ainsworth, 74, died in a retirement home at the Sunrise of Springfield in Springfield, Virginia on January 2, 2013. Mr. Ainsworth's wife, of 38 years, Elizabeth J. Ainsworth passed in 2011.
Mr. Ainsworth worked with the Federal Government in the 1970's through the 1990's, worked as a college professor at Ben Franklin University of Washington
D.C in the 1980's and as an educator at St. Stephens/St. Agnes Private School in Washington DC until the late 2000's.
Robert was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He went on to graduate with a Masters Degree in Economics from American University in Washington, DC. Mr. Ainsworth, along with his wife Elizabeth, authored the books "Wheeling: A Pictorial History", "Through the Years" and "Sports In The Nation's Capital".
Mr. Ainsworth is survived by his son Robert (Kelly) Ainsworth II of Alexandria, Virginia, his 2 year old grandson, Brayden William Ainsworth of Alexandria, his daughter Allyson (David) Jackson of Norfolk Virginia, his grandsons Brennan Ainsworth Jackson and Patrick Ray Jackson of Norfolk, Virginia.
