Norfolk - Robert Glenn Irwin passed peacefully from this life April 26, 2013
Born April 29, 1926 in Duff, Tennessee to James and Georgie Irwin, He was 86 years old.
He retired as a Machinist's Mate Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy
with 25 years of service. He was proud to have been selected to serve on the commissioning of the USS Nashville. He also retired after 15 years with US Civil Service. He and his wife were members of the David Adams Memorial Chapel, Norfolk Naval Station.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 Years, Fannie Johnson Irwin and a sister, Betty and her husband Wayne Gray.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Wilson and her husband Duncan and their three children, Brandy and her husband Matt Oerly, Debra and her husband Bill Cutlip, and Josh Hilbert and his wife Stephanie. He also is survived by two sisters, Mary Kyker and Nancy Durham, all from Jonesborough, Tennessee and step-son, Ray Johnson and his wife Martha from Norfolk, Va. He also leaves three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
